Thank you trying to put things in the 'right' perspective ..
To put it briefly .. Tamils were on the 'march' from the time the British took 'control' of Ceylon .. and especially after the 1818 rebellion led by Keppetipola Dissawa.
The Japanese dealt the British a humiliating 'blow' .. in WWII. That sense of 'God-given' right to rule over 'natives' in far-off lands was 'knocked off' their heads by the Japanese .. in humiliating defeats at sea, and in land battles in the jungles of Malaya, in Singapore etc. If not for US intervention it could have been much worse.
Then, when the Indians demanded 'independence', in the after-math of the war .. the British did not have the 'will' nor the capacity to impose themselves on India and lay claim once again to their 'God-given' right to rule over so-called 'lesser peoples' (asians). (The Japanese had earlier knocked-off that 'silly nonsense' off their heads). However, while 'leaving' India they quietly abetted in its partitioning .. and left two 'parties' to remain 'locked-in' with their 'ancient animosities' .. The actual partitioning was 'horrendous' .. it should have been possible to leave India without wounding her so grievously .. that after 50 years, the 'wounds' inflicted at partitioning have still not 'healed' properly.
In SL they left with more 'grace'.. possibly mistaking the thin veneer of the English speaking 'society' that surrounded them .. was all there was to it. DS was a shrewd man .. and whatever the Tamil die-hards in this forum may say, essentially 'fair'. He knew the suffering of the Kandyan people .. how they were 'ousted' from their lands after the rebellion, and of the horrendous reprisals meted out to them during the rebellion of 1818. Unlike Lee Kuan Yew .. he did not have the opportunity to study at Cambridge .. but he knew the 'way forward' was not stirring up diferences amongst a diverse 'population' .. but to work at advancing the economy. Then came SWRD .. impatient to 'make' his political career .. as well as to eliminate the 'disparities' between peoples 'over-night'. Believe, he was a 'kindly' man .. and while he may have done 'right' by the Sinhala speaking person, he failed to address the needs of the Tamil speaking person .. who is
an equal citizen in this country. It was I believe his intention to address the earlier omission, but he was not allowed to do that .. the vicious political climate of Sri Lanka 'put paid' to that.
We now come to the present .. with MR picking up the challenge thrown at him by VP .. who thought that he could 'win' by his own 'fierce' will, 'driving' the Tamil people to adopt a 'suicidal' attitude (frame of mind) in 'pitting' themselves against the Sinhala people. It worked against JR, RW, and CBK .. MR may not have the mental agility of JR or RW (or, as you might say in 'political gymnastics'), but he has qualities of character, and essential good sense ..

MR may not have the mental agility of JR or RW .. but he has qualities of character, and essential good sense .. which will enable him to prevail.
What we can .. and must do at this time is to support him, so that we can put this 'dark' chapter behind us .. forget past animosities .. and march forward to a bright future as a 'proud people'. (Where possible, we .. Sinhala and Tamil people, should help each other, as our futures are 'bound together', whether we like it or not).

HER father is lone time and full time LTTE supporter that is true.
Her music is very rebellious. that is what I heard. She is a British Artist and parents just happened to SL - tamils. |

She is using the ideal topic to reach tamil people and earn her bucks. ie. 'WAR'
Tamils are obsessed with war, gun, bullets and sacrifices. So she is singing what tamil people want. If she sings an ordinary english song nobody will listen.

I wonder where these laws were when thousands of Jaffna Tamil and South Indian Tamil colonists/labourers were deliberately settled by the British in and around the Tank Country that had been farmed and managed by 'Purana' Kandyan Sinhalese farmers before they were massacred and driven out??..
I suggest you read the Administration Reports of the time!!..

Sinhalese colonist were only settled in the upper sections of the Left and Right Bank systems and in Small Parts of the River Division because these Units fell into the predominantly Sinhalese (99%) division of Wewagam Pattu. The rest of the Units (Lower Left Bank, Lower Right Bank and River Divisions) were settled with Tamils and Muslims.
Do you even know what the Gal-Oya settlement plan looks like??.. I suggest you look it up!!..

These three tanks were restored, forests were cleared and blocked into units for Sinhalese colonists, who were brought from the south, thus purposely changing the demographic map of the Tamil region.
Once again I suggest you read my earlier post and look into this so called antiquity of Tamil settlements in the Eastern Province.. And!!.. specifically look at the antiquity of Tamil settlements around these 3 specific tanks.. find out who bought those Tamil Settlers and planted them there??..
Find out for yourself how our British administrators deliberately settled Jaffna Tamil and South Indian Tamil colonists/labourers in and around the Tank Country.. Go read what Governor McCulum said to the Tamil Chiefs in 1909!!..
