BTW, this specific incident can probably not even be classified as an act of terrorism as the 'target' was military....certainly an act of terrorists though

I think you'll agree that the status of the LTTE and that of Al-Qaida is somewhat different - Al-Qaida is not engaged in civil armed conflict with the state.....their entire startegy is terror, while the LTTE do adopt 'conventional' military strategies as well. My point is that if one calls the attack on Fonseka terrorism, then LRRP attacks will qualify as well...

of course silly, LPPR attacks are acts of terrorism. Just hear little Velu crying blue murder and not fair.
The LRRP are bigger terrorists than Velu, because they are all men. At least Velu was magnanimous enough to use kids and Pregnant women as suicide bombers.

There is a difference between a govt fighting to save its citizens from terror and a terrorist organization.
Without using terror against a terrorist organization you can never defeat a terrorism. It has never been done anywhere in the world.
the question is do we let a terror organization to take over a democratically selected govt or not.
Also a woman is disguised as a pregnant woman=pregnant woman, that why she was let in without proper inspection.
It is basically mortgaging human values and motherhood for terrorism!

Agree 100% - and I think it is crucial to KEEP that difference, which is why I think your next statement is stupid and dangerous, in addition to wrong:

The question is do you want to defeat terrorism or do you want it to end - look at Nepal for a recent good example of how terrorism was if not ended, then certainly almost ended....I also would like to see a good example of where terrorism has been successfully defeated by using terror tactics...the concept of 'defeating' terror is wrong - what you should be shooting for (no pun intended) is to end terrorism by ensuring that those responsible are brought to book and the original reason for them retorting to terror is addressed.

I disagree with you that a woman disguised as pregnant IS pregnant. She was let in more because the security checks were very very slack. Don't blame that on the LTTE, blame it on the army being incompetent - they left a security hole gaping wide open and of course the LTTE took advantage of it.
