Despite initial press reports to the contrary, this murderess was NOT pregnant at the time of the attack.

I hope you don't think that's what I claim. She was most certainly guilty, but NOT pregnant. I don't see the point in repeating lies - it is contraproductive as you're not going to convince 'the other side' anyway, and those of us who are open to seeing that both sides have valid arguments will just stop reading if the quality of arguments go below a certain level of decency. Maybe the function is to feel good by getting some attention?
BTW, this specific incident can probably not even be classified as an act of terrorism as the 'target' was military....certainly an act of terrorists though. |

Cost of living and issues of patriotism
By Manel Abhayaratna
The recent increase in the price of fuel and the more drastic increase in the price of milk foods makes one wonder whether such increases are another call for us citizens to accept them with good grace in the name of patriotism. Sadly enough this patriotism does not seem to extend to the well fed and much travelled politicians and their coterie of yes- men. In fact it appears that the government is very determined to increase the gap between the rich and the poor and in the process eliminate the struggling middle class. Perhaps this may be due to the fact that the middle class yet strives to retain certain moral values which maybe an embarrassment to a government that at the moment is facing many accusations of corruption , abuse of power and lack of accountability.
In addition the spate of abductions , the continuing violence and the slow resettlement of the displaced in the east all make us wonder whether patriotism is limited only to send soldiers to fight a war that never seems to be ending while certain government authorities mouth platitudes of negotiating for peace .Certain Ministers comment perhaps tongue in the cheek that the people should be grateful for the success of the war against terrorism. Thy excuse the fact that the government has almost a hundred ministers, cabinet and non cabinet, stating that it is much easier to provide for a hundred odd Ministers than for 20 million people forgetting with supreme indifference that the votes of a section of these citizens gave them the power they use now with so much disdain for public suffering , inconvenience and frustration.
