Troops begin ops in Vanni
Friday, 3 August 2007 - 4:54 AM SL Time

The Army yesterday commenced a limited operation in the Tiger held Vanni, close to the Vavuniya border. Twenty LTTE cadres were killed, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka told The Island.

No further details were available about this latest operation at the time of going to press

Meanwhile in Jaffna, on a tip off from a civilian, Army recovered five suicide belts from an abandoned house at around 2 pm yesterday.

Along with the five suicide belts the security forces also reovered: three anti tank mines, two hand grenades, a T-56 weapon, two T-56 magazines, 54 T-56 rounds of ammunition, two 5kg claymore mines, two micro pistols, four claymore connectors, a claymore receiver, two claymore remote controllers and 13 electric detonators.

Security forces praise the stand taken by civilians in Jaffna, who promptly bring to the notice of the Army any suspicious objects and suspicious movement of strangers.

Complete different Tactics will be applied to North.
Vanni now feels the heat.
Thonda's departure from MR coalition will spill something.

Thonda's departure is nothing but another ploy by extremists to influence the government's current stance against Tamil Extremism.

Who is going to depart as Sinhala villagers from Vavunia fleeing their homes? Where are the human rights advocates? Shame, Shame, Shame.

Well i guess as grim as it sounds...you might as well hit them when their at an all time low morale...
With everything that happened within LTTE and outside of it in the IC and battlegrounds...this is the right time if were to take on wanni
I hope our military planners have taken the ground conditions etc into consideration and launch these ops PURELY on tactical grounds and not political...

Thonda's scene is of course is nothing new :)
these guys join for their gains and bugger off when the times are tough only to come back again once they realize that the 'act of buggering off' is not working for them :)
they will re-join sooner than we thin :)

Most significant information is that the civilians start cooperating with the Authorities.
It?s only with a minimum of MUTUAL RESPECT for each other that progress can be made. The change has to come from the growing strength of the innocent Tamil civilians within the Vanni and outside.

Like in the East, people have to be convinced that they will enjoy a better life in a democratic environment. Finish the HELL-AM dream and back to a certain degree of normalcy where people have again a future, as simple as it might be.

Thanks to VP more civilians are going to get killed. If
VP is really the great leader then he should let all the
civilians left to safer places before the fire-works
starts.Guess he has no guts to do this.Like he said B4,
the Tamils should suffer!
He should be named 'The Satan of Tamils'!
