The other requirement is the false Tamil superiority complex.
Tamils were fed with the idea(without any base) that they are a superior race and Sinhalese are modayas. This is Tamil chauvinism.
The Sinhala race is a mixed race and it is ritually an impure race. The Sinhalese have the habit of sleeping with anything that land on the Sri Lankan shore. The so called Sinhala Kings that Sinhalese brags about are not the present day Sinhalese, they had Kalinga blood and Tamil blood.
Even the last king of Sri Lanka, Sri Vickrama Raja Singhe was from the house of Tamil blooded Nayake dynasty. The Sinhalese royals had slept with portuguese and others, therefore lost their ritual status to sit on the Kandiyan throne, that's why with no choice, the Buddhist monks were forced to crown the pure blooded Tamil named Kannusamy as the King of Kandy.
He assumed the name Sri Vickrama Raja Singhe and ruled Sri Lanka until Sinhalese backstabbed him by joining the colonialists.
We have to learn about Sinhala racism from the history, the Sinhalese backstabbed Sri ViKrama Raja Singhe, because he was a Tamil. They were ready to hand over the country to white masters rather then let a Tamil rule the country.
This is what exactly happening now they would mortgage Sri Lanka even to the Chinese, if Chinese help them to defeat Prabhakran. This hardcore Sinhala racism and the hatred against Tamils is historical, real and widespread. This is the fact, anything else is just a pep talk.
I heard that before independence, the upper caste Kandiyan Buddhists would rather marry a Jaffna Hindu Vellala than a Karava from Hampantota or a Rodhiya like Anud. :) LOL
Sinhalese on the other had built their own unique literature language and culture.
AnuD doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. Even the Sinhala grammar is based on Tamil grammar 'Veera Sozhiyam.' Jaffna Sir Muttukumarasway and his son Ananda kumaraswamy had contributed tremendously to the Sinhala language and literature. I think 'Soozavamasa' was translated by Sir Kumaraswami.
Even Sir Ramanathan worked to develop the Sinhala language and Sir Ramanathan made Sinhala speeches among the Sinhala students to make them proud of their language, when all of the Sinhala leaders acted like brown Europeans, who can only speak English.
Tell me one good service Sinhalese did to Tamil language, other than enacting the Sinhala only act.
