US Medics to East. Interesting stuff. How many intelligence officers will be among the medics?
This clearly shows the US support to Gotta.

I think this statement as a one which has a foundation.
There were enough opportunities to make peace, but ltte was avoiding all of them, just because the leadership is afraid to live in a competitive environment.

Hi Berty
Ranil having a majority? Well, that is highly unlikely.
Even the ardent supporters of the UNP think Ranil's time is up. In fact Ranil has become an asset to MR.
As they say in business weaker opposition is the greatest opportunity. |

Why would a sinhalese wants to leave the country faking his own abduction or was he really abducted?
SSP?s son-in-law in mystery abduction
Mystery surrounds the alleged abduction of a senior police officer?s son-in-law and the demand of half a million rupee ransom ? with family members and police telling contradictory stories.
According to sources close to family members, Ranga Indika Perera, son-in-law of Senior Superintendent (SSP) Fabian Mitchele, was abducted in Kotahena by three men who came in the now-notorious white van.
They say the gang demanded a ransom of half a million rupees while police tried to trace Mr. Perera with his father-in-law alerting all police stations and emergency units. By monitoring mobile phone calls, the police said the victim was eventually traced to Mahabage but the site happened to be a house being built by him ? adding a strange twist to the drama.
Sources close to family members said the family was compelled by the police to tell this Mahabage house story and not make any other statement, adding more mystery to the puzzle.
But, SSP Jayantha Kulathilka charged that Mr. Perera had engineered his own abduction to get media publicity so that he could apply for British citizenship. He said Mr. Perera had been detained along with a relative and a friend who took part in the alleged abduction drama for further questioning.
But, the sources close to the family still insisted Mr. Perera, who returned from London recently, was abducted and the abductors demanded Rs. 500,000 for his release.

Strategist
Good morning!!
Ranil having a majority? Well, that is highly unlikely.
U may be right but the way people turned out for that rally (I know it is politics) people are more worried about cost of living than this WAR..people are really thinking whether actually there was a Deal and what they are hearing in south is not the truth on WAR. The celebration was not a success. looks like the tides are changing..MR will hold on to his Presidency but there is a clear sign people are moving away
Even the ardent supporters of the UNP think Ranil's time is up. In fact Ranil has become an asset to MR.
well in Politics you hear one thing today and the opposite to morrow..the way Anura has spoken out again..looks like he is moving the opposite way again..
As they say in business weaker opposition is the greatest opportunity.
TRUE..if at all the Opposition is getting stronger and the business is going down..

Let's see.. Tamils asked for autonomy/devolution of power from the begining and they created Indo-Lanka accord to address that issue.. But in the end, the Indo-Lanka gave no autonomy whatsoever to the tamils.. So is it any wonder the LTTE and the Tamils as a whole rejected it??
The Indo-Lanka accord puts the president incharge of everything. He's the only one with executive power and he's the one who chooses the governer to rule over Tamil areas. Lets see, even in the Tamil provinces, the president and his chosen/appointed governer are incharge of civil services, employment in the public service sector, devlopment, police services, land allocation, money/taxes both provincial and central, government banks/grants.. While the chief minister and other ministers elected by the tamil people to 'self-govern' have no power whatsoever except to 'aide and advice' the governer (who's the presidents henchman) when and if he requires/wishes it.. But the Governer has no obligation to listen to those advices and has no need to follow them. He also has the power to dissolve the provinical ministry if he so wishes.
Well.. that's pretty much the sham known as the indo-lanka accord, and anyone with half-a-brain can see why the LTTE rejected it. |
