There must be something in between these two extremes? If we could compromise to find such arrangement be it Swidish or Canadian model, we can also get civilised. |

One camp is those belonged to AssasinSWRD and the other to AssasinRajiv.
Who started the destructions and killings?
Who denied the basic rights of minorities?
Who used military might to put down the peaceful protests of minorities against the illegal 'Sinhala Only'?
Who sign agreements and dishonour them?
Those belonged to AssasinRajiv used peaceful means which did not work but roused destructive violence so they resoted to vuiolence as a reaction? What else can they do except accepting slavish sitiation where the mighty rules the weaker?

Again why Canada and Swiss.(I have some idea about your Canadian one, including S-33, but little about Swiss)
We are not in that world.
Only what we have is Indian. The most extensive devolution in a Third World. We can go further.
But, regarding the federal set up. I am out. To me, Sri Lankans must enjoy self-determination as a whole, not as Tamil, Muslim etc.
Then, where the assurance for the snatching away what was given.
Leave it to us, we would take care of it.

This is the anarchy of the permanent ethnic-majority which we have been experiencing for the last 60 years. What is new about it? You want more of the same destruction?
Indian Quasi-fedaral model would have resolved everything in 1958 when Tamil/Muslim leaders wanted Regional Concils in BC Pact or even District Councils in SC Pact in 1965. After so much destruction and deaths giving the power to the president (Sinhalese, not any other) to dissolve the federal unit is suicidal, remembering that even a minority with just 2% of the ppulation can be a Prime Minister or President in secular multi-cultural India but that is not possible in mono-natinalistic Sri Lanka.

The idiots didnt know that Sinhala suprem(e)acist court could have annulled it anytime and the tamils would be left with holding empty bags. Funny thing is his interview comes after even the last vestige to the accord (merger) is destroyed.
And why did Varatharaja Perumal was so frustrated with the so-called devolution of powers?
Who has far-sightedness? certainly not Devananda/EPDP.
