United states although reluctant to admit has always had a strategic importence in SL
What is strategic about Sri Lanka? No oil, often anti-US, no major human skill pool like India... If recent statements from the US Ambassador is any indication, Sri Lanka is a pain in the A .. for US.
You must be out of your mind to say such statements as 'a strategic impotence in SL'
Soon SL contractors will be sought for expertise !
In fact you sound insain... just dont utter rubbish, even though this is a free forum!

How 'proud' SL army soldier of the terror state robbed the shop and escaped with millians.
SL drama with army and police playing truance in robbery.
Mistaken salute costs millions
By Chris Kamalenran
In a sort of comedy of errors and terrors, a police constable saluted an armed robber who was dressed in police uniform ? mistakenly thinking he was a senior officer carrying out a search operation in a jewellery cum money changer?s shop in Wellawatte.
The constable did not know he was allowing this robber and his gang to escape with Rs. 20 million in local and foreign currency ? one of the biggest robberies in recent times. According to reports, the gang leader dressed in a police inspector?s uniform and six others had come to the shop near the Galle road and told the staff they wanted to search the premises.
Two gang members remained in the van while the main suspect ? the bogus inspector with a pistol in his pouch ? summoned the staff and inspected the safes and documents. The bogus inspector then ordered the staff to get back to their seats while he collected the money from the lockers and put them into bags.
A bystander alerted a Wellawatte police constable who was passing by. But as he entered the shop, he saw the person whom he presumed to be an inspector. The horror or errors followed. The constable saluted the gang leader and went away after he was told they were carrying out a search operation.
The gang then came out of the shop and headed for the van when an employee suspected it was robbery and not a police search. He grabbed one of the suspects, but he was fired upon by the others and was injured in both his legs. The Wellawatte police station was then alerted and a jeep rushed to the shop but it was too late.

| Instead of repeating the Tamil tiger mantra day and night and living by the charity of the world as permanent victims, the good and the proud Tamil people who seek peace in SL for their own pleasure or for those they left behind need to hear balanced and true information to counter all the vile propaganda and self-serving lines that the LTTE feeds its media and in turn feeds the people. |

In fact, whole of Sri Lanka lost opportunities in Oslo, Geneva, Bangkok to strike out a deal and PROSPER.
Now the PLAN B is in the process of implementaion.
Tamil race need better leaders to strike a deal and then use the win/win solution for a better deal for Tamil people. That is 'sole representation'.
What we are witnessing now is 'sole destruction'. |

Attention: Berty
There may be things you want to prove against Devannada. It is OK. Yet, looking for authority from Anura Bandaranaike?s theses to substantiate your point , you would go nowhere. He serves the Sinhalese after the demise of Samuel Rodrigo and Enasley Dias, in a big way.
Douglas may not get 50 votes in Jaffna. Still if he comes to Gampaha he could easily get more that what AB would get.
I too don?t agree with Douglas as you do on what he says.
Tamil people did not lose any opportunity in 1987 or then onwards.
The opportunity was snatched from their hands. I had been in the Elaam at that time and saw first hand how that happened.
It was a great betrayal of trust by LTTE, that could match any such betrayal of trust you accused of Sinhala leaders.
Moreover, this is the trust by their own people.

Some poeple are confused in their haste as to who caused destruction to whom. Minorities in SL/ Ceylon asked what other minorities in civilised countries get for granted. What they got in return are riots, looting, arson and destruction.
Even now the whole emphasus is destruction. P-TOMS would have been a good confidence building agreement that the previous govt signed with LTTE and MR as Prime Minister presented it in the former parliament. What did he do in order to win the election? He ditched it and took all underhand methods to send the facilitators home and drive 300,000 Tamils and Muslims out of their homes.

Nirupam
Why talk of civilised countries.
If ours is like that we would not have a this type of SL govt and LTTE.
So forget about civilised countries.
Think of one suit to us. Unitary or Separate.
