Tamilnet says 50000 people are in the UNP rally today unp says 500000 but jayaraj minister says only 5000 Thousands of people were seen flocking towards Campbell Park in Borella in Sri Lanka's capital city Thursday noon to participate in the first main rally organised jointly by the main opposition United National Party of Ranil Wickramasinghe and the breakaway Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Mahajana faction, headed by former SL foreign minister Mangala Samaraweera, against Rajapaksa government. Meanwhile, only a small number of people participated in the marches organised by the government Thursday morning. The opposition rally is expected to draw around fifty thousand participants.
The anti-government march, which is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m., is expected to reach Hyde Park, Colombo 02, around 4:00 p.m.
Security has been beefed up in Colombo and many roads remained blocked Thursday. |

For Sri Lankans zeros have no values irrespective of where they are placed. SL Ambassador claimed 130,000 Norwegian passports were stolen, but, the N.gogt said only 9 blank passports were missing.
SL English and Sinhalese media claimed LTTE own £4,000,000, a defence weekly said 200m to 300m.
Why Sri Lanka is treated as a failed state is because the politicians, media and the rulers are stupid fools. |

Statistics on attrocities committed by lunatic LTTE terrorists not only on innocent Sinhalese but also on innocent Tamils cannot match GOSL attrocities on terrist murderers!
No SLF members were killed at Anuradhapura, Aranthalawa, Kebithigollewa, Dollar and Kent farms etc. etc. but innocent, poorest of the poor, helpless civilians of SL! |

I think Karuna is the only LTTE leader who came out form the dungeon and at least trying to do the right thing risking his own life for a political solution. |

SLFP stalwart Sooriarachi says it was the police, on govt initiaves, who created the stories of lorry laden explosives and mines in South to scare people to keep them away from the UNP-SLFP(M) organised protest rally.
DPU is illegal because the govt shuold not get involved in clandestine activities. DPU was exposed once by the police raid.
Laying of mines to kill LTTE can also kill civilians as has happened in the past. The govt must investigate how did the DPU got hold of vast quantities of mines. Even teenagers are using hand grenade in robberies.
