Public should be warned of impending economic crisis. Infringement of laws and fundamental rights by a handful of dirty politicos have more impact on the social standings of the common man in the Island than a possible bomb explosion.

Cannot VP do something about these b.......s instead of butchering Innocents who do not why they are being massacred.

The first place they should bomb lies close to Diyawanna.

There is no f.....r in SL who is capable of exposing the muck at the helm of the administration including their stooges regarding their dirty deeds (Victor the Ivon after being rapped by MR seems silent which is deafening).

Please VP take note!

Getting back to Black July, whoever blaming the JVP is distorting the truth. In May 83, there were riots in the student hostels in Peradeniya and Colombo. I can personally vouch for the fact that it was the UNP Student Union who organized this, under instructions from Cyril Mathew. While many Sinhalese students protected the Tamil students from physical harm, they were unable to prevent the subsequent looting of books and clothes. Many of the rioters/ looters are in eminent positions in society now and I am sure repent their momentary madness.
Under JR, most powerful ministers had personal gangs of thugs. The thought at that time was that 'bashing heads' is the panacea for all problems. Cyril Mathew and Gamani Dissanayake let loose their armies on the historical Jaffna public library. Just before the July riots, one eminent minister responded to the question 'how are you going to solve the ethnic problem?' with 'bashing some heads!' At the height of the riots JR made the famous speech 'If you want war, we will give you war..' The same attitude was evident when goons demonstrated in front of Supreme Court Judges. Unfortunately this kind of violent suppression of society brutalized the Sinhala community as well. All this came to a head in the JVP uprising of 1987 and it's crushing by the UNP government.I don't think we have learnt our lessons and I predict there will be a 3rd JVP uprising in the future.
