Troops who took Thoppigala to be felicitated

`Rising East` a ceremony to felicitate the security forces personnel who participated in the battle for Thoppigala, will be held today from 8.45 to 10.30 a.m. at the Labour Ministry in Narahenpita. Labour and Human Resources Minister Athauda Seneviratne will preside.

Security forces personnel who were injured in the Thoppigala battle are also expected to participate. All those who were involved in the battle will be presented with certificates.

President purchases a Rs. 260m worth luxury house for the Rajapaksha family

The chief Co-ordinator for the SLFP(M) Sripathy Sooriarachchi revealed in Colombo, today(24th) that President Mahinda Rajapaksha has bought the luxury ?White house? in Battharamulla using Rs.260m of the money given for the Presidential elections.
Being a person who played a responsible role in the previous Presidential elections as a member of the organising committee, he openly challenged the President to a public debate regarding such factors, including the transaction with the LTTE.
Mr. Sripathy Sooriarachchi emphasised that he was even ready to produce the numbers of the bank notes which were used in the transaction if the President was ready to give up his post.
?At a meeting in Nawalapitiya, the President had once declared that there wasn?t money even to spend on the Presidential elections. It is not surprising since, he had spent the money for the elections on the LTTE transaction, paying them first in US dollars and then in Rupees as well as buying the luxury ?White House? near the Parliament complete with tennis courts and swimming pools??This house was bought for the Rajapaksha family. ? he added.

	All those who were involved in the battle will be presented with certificates. Alleviate their economic conditions, celebrations and cardboards don't feed their families DECENTLY. After 30 years of repeated failures, now SLA and the SLFP government has an illusion to celebrate about. These celebrations will be short lived as it is for sure, like in the past, LTTe will take east back.

SLA's only successful operation was against the JVP in which they killed nearly 100,000 sinhalase youth, most of them were young women who were raped to death, back in late 1980s.

SLA monkeys should be given bananas as gifts for capturing a area which was already abandoned by LTTE.
