Don't assume that I like and encourage these kind of celebrations. But his speech was really good other than that begging part.

I had a good respect for Sri lankans. But I see some of the members here, use offensive language, refering to caste and all that. Please put forward valuable arguments, if you can't just keep quiet. Don't attack people personally if you can't argue with points. It just shows your background and how you were brought up. We cannot expect justice from people like this. Please grow up.

PAtrani:

refering to caste and all that

That is a burning issue inthat community, I believe. So, it is better to talk about that.

I learned that habit from the western life.

Remember colonial powers and the westernlife made us full of christian - ideals and western thinking. So, innocen of the country is gone.

All are greedy and selfish.

Please grow up.

YOu are embarrassed from what I talk.
But, you guys accuse us for even things we never thought of and never did. We just take every thing. Do you understand that.

Government has no moral right to celebrate the Eastern Victory! - JVP Leader

Even the security forces sacrificed lives in the battlefield, having sacrificed nothing for the victory in east, government has no moral right to celebrate the eastern victory, JVP leader Somawansa Amarasinghe says. He said at the special media briefing held at Colombo today.

Mr. Amarasinghe said, 'We ask the government, what you sacrificed for the victory in east while members of the security forces sacrificed lives in the conquest of east. Some of the ministers did join in the marches of the so called Anti War Front, in order to support Tiger agents in their hullabaloo to stop the war.'

He also said that his party's position to defeat terrorism is unchanged as before. According to that position JVP could reestablish the fact that North and East are two separate provinces, which gives JVP the sole right to celebrate the eastern victory. When the security forces were engaged in fierce battle against the Wanni Tigers, certain elements those who are in the govt now, protested with allegations that the members of armed forces violate Human Rights. Since the govt leaders get ready to celebrate the eastern victory with those treacherous forces, JVP cannot join in that insult being done to the armed forces. So, his party has decided to boycott the 'Nagenahira Nawodaya' to be held on 19th despite the invitations received to participate state ceremony, JVP leader said.

Mr. Amarasinghe further said that the govt's foremost duty is to restore democracy and start development tasks to serve the eastern population, who were disowned state care for about three decades. Hospitals, electricity and other basic needs must be provided and the education for the younger generation should be provided forthwith. JVP leader pointed out that the state sponsored celebrations with huge expenses and without fulfilling the most important requirements of eastern people are hopeless.

Government has no moral right to celebrate the Eastern Victory! - JVP Leader

Sinhala politics is all screwed up... one party wants to celebrate, one party do not like it, one party do not think this is a victory, one party thinks this is an act of Buddha.... what a mess!
