Airforce spokesman Group Captain Ajantha Silva said that the Airforce fighter jets yesterday, around 9 a.m., successfully destroyed four LTTE targets in the area east of Thoppigala.
`Airforce has been providing air support to ground troops during the last few days bombing identified targets in the area,` he said.
Military spokesman Brigadier Prasad Samarasinghe explaining the ground position in Thoppigala said that the enemy has been almost pushed out of the area and now they are confined to a few transit camps and bunkers in Narakamulla and Taravi. Troops are gradually flushing them completely out of the area but it has been heavily mined. Hence the movement of the soldiers is slow, he pointed out.
`The Tiger cadres are fleeing Thoppigala in small groups and some of them have moved to Kanchikudichchi Aru area, Samarasinghe said.
In the area ahead of the Wanni Forward Defence Lines (FL) seven LTTE cadres were killed when they tried to attack the troops Military spokesman said.

99% of the Tigers have already left. They left some mines behind as a farewell present. A soldier who steps on one of these mines will know the true meaning of 'Chinthanaya.'

No wonder UNP(Traitor Ranil/ANUS-AM Faction) wants Gotabhaya Removed..... |
