Kottechutta,
What has changed from 1956 the year Sinhala ONly was enacted todate? Simnhala Only is still forced, Tamil/Muslim Govt servants though a few of them left, has to pass the Sinhala proficiency test to get their increment. Tamils have to sign poice re[ports written only in Sinhala in Tamil areas.
One noticeble change is that in 1956 Sinhala thugs organised by the then govt, Opposition and Sinhala Buddhist monks attacked Tamils and chased them to North and East. Now Tamils also stand up to fight against the abductions, torture and enforced executions.
Look at this news, Govt rearmed EPDP and gave weapons to Karuna group
[ A Karuna Group paramilitary member was killed and two Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP) pararmilitary personnel were wounded when the two groups, attached to the Kommaathu'rai Sri Lanka Army (SLA) base in Chengkaladi in Batticaloa, clashed Wednesday evening around 5:00 p.m., Ea'raavoor Police said. The Karuna group has been harassing the EPDP, the only paramilitary group established in SLA controlled areas of both North and East, against carrying out campaign activities in Batticaloa district for the last two months.]
[ri Lanka is 100 years backward, Tamils in other countries are happy and respected, why are they not happy in Sri Lanka, because Sinhala Buddhists live ONLY in Sri Lanka.]

Kottechutta,
did you herd about Norway only country support to Tamils
Well frogs know only the dimension of the well. When US was facilitating the peace negotiations in Northern Ireland between the Unionists and IRA which was banned in the UK as a terrorist organisation, US presidents Bush and Clinton invited IRA representatives to the White House to keep them engaged in the talks.
Norway was invited by the Sri Lankan president CBK and the whole world supported that move. Norway had to treat both parties to the conflict fairly and equally to stear the taljk, otherweise , one or both parties can leave the talk. This is diplomacy.
Minorities will have to suffer to regain their rights. Workers go on strike to get pay rises or better working conditions by loosing their pay. Likewise to get a fair treatment those who are weak will have to suffer. But the justice is on our side as DEW Gunesekara made in clear in his speach which you can read to enlighten yourself..

Kottechutta,
If you want you go and live anywhere, we are here to stay.
Who are you tell us what you do. This problem arose when your PM SWRD forced Sinhala Only on the minorities. You must know what is happening in other countries to get civilised. |
