This is how the marginalized work..........
Rs.354 million worth building complex for Jaffna University
The Government is to provide a new building complex worth Rs.354 million to the Jaffna University, Minister of Higher Education Prof. Wisva Warnapala said.
'Rs. 200 million will be spent to provide hostel facilities for medical students in the Jaffna University while another Rs. 148 million will be spent to upgrade the Advanced Technological Institute (ATI) in Jaffna. Arrangements will be made to provide facilities to Labuduwa A.T.I. as well,' Prof. Warnapala said.
The project provides an opportunity for 200 students of the Jaffna Medical Faculty and 400 students of the Ruhuna Medical Faculty to have accommodation facilities at the University with the construction of new hostels.
Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development has provided US$ 20 million to the Government to rebuild and rehabilitate tsunami-affected education and administrative infrastructure. Accordingly these steps were taken under the President Mahinda Rajapaksa's presidential policy 'Mahinda Chinthana' which focuses especially on upgrading educational facilities in North-East universities.
New buildings for Information Technology Centres will be established for Eastern (Batticaloa) and South Eastern (Oluvil - Ampara) Universities to facilitate the advancement of computer education. About 6,000 students of the two universities will immediately benefit from the two Information Technology buildings, he said.
But all the Sinhala and muslim students chased away from Jaffna University..... |

Astro:
I asked you to give me some examples that how the Tamils arr marginalized in Sri Lanka? Can you show me? Do you have answer for that? If yes i need examples....without telling craps....
I gave you two examples...losing jobs, and univ entrance... Tamils were denied -because they were Tamils... not because they were less qualified... that is called discrimination! We do not care if the rules were applied universally to all the people in SL, regardless of their race or language... by introducing many Sinhala only policies, Tamils were marginalized.....
This reminds me of a story I heard. In the old days, a black man goes to vote in the the state of Georgia, in USA. Before allowing voting, he had to pass a test. The guy in the voting booth shows an English sentence and ask the blak man to read it. He read it perfectly. Then the booth guy shows something in French. the black man read it perfectly again then the booth guy shows him something written in Greek. black man answers 'this says that you are not allowed to vote here'
Sinhala government policies to marginalize tamils had been like that!

'We won't lie like the Executive' - Chief Justice
(LeN- 2007 July 03, 7.30 pm) 'We won't lie like the executive' the chief justice, Mr. Sarath N. Silva says.
The chief justice stated this during his visit as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the appeal court today.
'We do as we say. We don't say one thing today, another thing tomorrow and another thing some where else the day after like the executive. We won't lie like the executive. I state it without fear? was what he said.
The chief justice who was out of the island from last Saturday returned to Sri Lanka yesterday. Some of his judgments given at the supreme court were controversial and it was observed that he used this ceremony as an opportunity to attack the executive directly.
