As revealed last week, after the launch of the Army's offensive against guerrillas in the Wanni on June 2, a 130 mm artillery storage facility was hit. According to Army sources a total of 820 artillery shells were destroyed when guerrillas fired their 130 mm artillery at a location near Pampeimadu, some nine kilometers from the Vavuniya town along the Mannar Road. Investigations are now under way to ascertain how the guerrillas fired several rounds. In the process they had corrected their fire on earlier positions to hit right on the target. Did someone give them directions on a mobile phone?
The Army's 130 mm artillery dump has been located behind sector two which is held by the Police. Army sources said yesterday that the first two guerrilla 130 mm artillery shells fell outside the defended localities. One had then fallen within the camp forcing over 40 soldiers to take cover in the bunkers. It is only thereafter that one had hit right on the artillery dump. The cost of each 130 mm artillery shell is said to be around Rs 30,000. Thus, the total loss would be around Rs 24.6 million.

Rememebr the ltte dont need to transport bombs in the truck they have new way of delivering on targets... through the air.(Air tigers guys doing great jobs). i think all the truck bomb plots r just fake and trying to stear the sinhala modiya's from concentrating from thopikala which the GOVSL terroiest cant achive.( think they have been trying too chase LTTE out for almost and year and still trying |
