Who are the 'Sri Lankans' is a good question!
You and I and anybody born in Sri Lanka are the proud Sri Lankans.

Good to see Lanka moving ahead with the times. What happened to the LTTE's 'hi-tech ID card that cannot be forged'? They were gleefully making a big fuss about it a few months ago.
Imperator,
Prabhakaran couldnt be accessed for his Digital Signature and so discared the project. |

This ID card can be issued with a cost less than Rs 500.00
However, the commissions and big profits of the supplier (even though they are going through the Tender Process, the supplier has already been chosen) makes it Rs 250.00 a card, and if you would do the maths, it is at least Rs 750 X 10 Million.
This is our money!
Whatever the security, it would be like your Drivers' license.. Anyone can get a Drivers' license giving false information... and there is no way to verify those details...
No machines to read even the magstripe..
Whatever the technology, if the process behind the same is faulty, it has no use..
My honest opinion is that we are over-paying for a technology that will not produce much outcome.

| Ka?runa once said there are two more guys looking exactly like Prabha living in Mulaitivu and only karuna and few others has direct access to the real prabha. the dilemma was to put whose digital ID. So the Project was a non starter. Cant they put all three ID in a combine and one to come to as the situation demanded. should have done medicine come to think of it. |

Wonder why, they are treated differently by the Sinhala state due to their religion, race, social status, etc... |

I agree too.
'You know fully well that Tamil Eelam is not achievable or feasible. Neither the International Community nor India will ever allow it. It is not possible without their concurrence. Hence forget about it.' - V. Anandasangaree to Prabhakaran.
Sadly, those who can make a difference don't seem to share our sentiments. |
