Odiyal kool is a porridge made with prawns, crabs(nandu), Kanawai (dallo in sinhala) small fish and some veitables like maakaral(long beans), potato, some green leaf, spices etc boiled with Odiyal flour (made from dried Palmairah seed yam or root).....oh ooo the taste you will not forget once you try it.unfortunately I am unable to share with you on the web....but try if you get a chance to have it....get hold of an elderly lady from jaffna (the younger generation not good in kool preparation)to make it for you |

mate sorry I am unable to share my kool pot with you over the web having a bottle of blue label now even though Panag kallu would have been the ideal combination.
I still remember my jaffna days a big dish full of kool will vanish after a bath in cashorina Beach and few bottles of Palmyra toddy....hope before death I will get this again in jaffna

We cannot blame anyone for the mess Sri Lanka is in, instead of looking for answer elsewhere we need to look within Sri Lanka for a solution.
Anything that anyother country does is based on their self interest not in Sri Lanka's.
India would have supported LTTE at the start for many reasons:
Didnt want a prosperous SL, that can bring in other western and eastern powers in collaboration projects.
Didnt want Tamil Nadu rising to help SL Tamils and create probs in India.
Just two of the many!

man, you seem to enjoying life down there.
I never liked nandu as its sweet though it doesn't matter now as I am a veggie. But maakaral I like, good stuff than the normal beans.
No wonder you boys are always hunky dory her :)
Btw, I like to taste some palmyrah toddy, where can I get in lanka, the nearest to the Colombo I mean?

If you are very keen on Thal Raa (Palmyrah Toddy) you can ask any guy comming via Kanthalai (Trinco) to colombo..ask them to bring it for you.....if not you can get it from amparai.....but you should have Kallu (toddy) within 24 hours taken from the tree
