Sri Lankan lesbian activist Rossana Flamer Caldera said that the profile of participants at a two day workshop held in Dambulla and Mahiyanganaya goes to prove how many Lesbian were living in rural areas in this country. She said that women from the age of 19 to 60 participated in the workshops. Some were mothers, while others were grandmothers. But the interesting point was that they emphasized that although they were married and had happy family lives, they still had homosexual relationships with their partners engaging in homosexual sex.
When asked, activist Rossana Flamer Caldera calls upon the authorities to decriminalize homosexuality in Sri Lanka and allow lesbian and gays to enter into a marriage. Caldera said that she does not believe in institutionalised lesbian marriages and it is not something special to fight for. `But we are urging the authorities to grant us the rights that are enjoyed by heterosexual couples to be granted to homosexuals as well.``
Rosanna said that Thailand is an example for Sri Lanka to emulate, as the feelings of others were respected and valued in this country. `Thailand being a true Buddhist country, has an incredible amount of respect and tolerance for the preferences of others and accepts homosexual and transgender relationships without any qualms. If this is the case in Thailand, why is Sri Lanka so ignorant in refusing to recognize the rights of homosexuals.` she questioned.

| If there are already lesbians in rural Sri Lanka, Why are they conducting work shops? Are these work shops to show new techniques? |

Dewey,
Who is the husband, who is the wife?
One of married celebrity lesbian couples in US is Rosie O'Donnell & Kelli Carpenter. As everyone knows, Rosie is a nasty and very vocal (in the bad sense). Even though, she was host of several daytime programs, she was considered very difficult to work with. Her life parter is very sweet lady, beautiful, and soft-spoken.
So, I think even in the Lesbian couple, we could tell who is playing husband and who is playing wife role.

| A lot of folks have the question what is taught in these workshops. I guess they teach rural women folk to make 'appa' when 'tahchhciya' is hot. |
