Sri Lanka Freedom Party Mahajana Wing leader Mangala Samaraweera said yesterday at the ceremonial launch of the SLFP-M at the Bandaranaike Samadhiya in Horagolla. Samaraweera and Sripathy Sooriyarachchi first paid floral tributes to SLFP founder the late S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike and Sirimavo Bandaranaike.
Samaraweera promised his supporters who came from Matara that he will establish a true SLFP and new party headquarters will be established shortly.
`The SLFP-M is established to take the party which is currently being misdirected by President Rajapakse and his family on the correct path. Today, the SLFP is in the hands of those who work to defeat the party. President Rajapakse has brought his enemies to his pocket. Karu Jayasuriya,
Hemakumara Nanayakkara and others who crossed from the UNP were working to defeat President Rajapakse at the last Presidential election. At that time, there was only Sripathy Sooriyarachchi to debate with them at the TV programmes. But, now President Rajapakse has forgotten his supporters and SLFPers.`
Sripathy Sooriyarachchi said that time is right for a new government. `We will not defeat the government by conspiracy. They are expecting that. We will launch our framework next week and work according to democratic principles to defeat government,` he said.

Why couldn't Mangala,Sripathy do it during there stay in SLFP ?
MR has stated that a election will be called if any SLFP cross overs.

Sure, No Problem. We are ready for elections. All you have to do is get another six or seven MP's to join you. MR will then go for an election. And guess what will happen??

Hmmm..so Rajitha Senanayaka was not there, only Karu and Hemakumara. Could this be a mistake or a deliberate act. Perhaps, they may not want to hurt a *nationalist* like Rajitha Senanayaka in their pursuit of Bandaranaike Policies.
Nevertheless, this gives an indication to the rugged terrain ahead for these two. They have to criticize MR for accepting defected UNPers like Karu and Hemakumara, not Rajitha. They will have to criticize MR for *disbanding* Bandaranaike Policies without making any immediate references to CBK. They will have to become an opposition to MR without aligning too much with RW. They have to criticise Rajapakses for striking a secret deal with LTTE without giving any explanation how the ongoing operation in the East fits in there.
They, of course will not carry on abiding by the above constraints. However, they will soon lose whatever the remaining credibility they have whenever they break any of the above.

Matara court has imposed a fine of Rs. 18120.00 for illegally obtaining electricity for Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha's family house at Palatuwa, Matara. Reports say that Mahinda's mother is living in this house but the consumer's name in the electricity bill is one Dissanayake. It has been disclosed that he is a son of Mr. Rajapaksha's mother's brother.
