Uncle
yes it is high time a more serious effort is made to solve the present problems in SL. Just read the article how MR had a meeting on abduction and he flies out and there was another abduction. So far not a single arrest..This surely points the fingers at the Govt involvement.
These ransom monies are paid in cash and run into billions..This has to be deposited in some bank somewhere.. or transferred overseas..How difficult for the govt to check it out!! |

Looks like some Forces wanted to go back home.
Not even 2000 will join the army at present sitivation.
I know very recently there was a drive to recruit soldiers, If i am not wrong they were talking about 20,000 at that time..looks like they failed to get too many
Will they allow the soldiers to go back home.
Most of these poor boys are sent to the front line without proper training basically sacrificing their life's

Berty.
Yes, it's easy enough to check.
MR is very fond of asking for help from Scotland Yard etc...... Interpol have the facilities, and would be glad to lend their expertise, I'm sure. |

If not Gothabaya, some one else with in the ARMY has a very good future. Soon coming military Government should be able to cope all the man power issues.
Requirement of 50000 become necessity just to cover the no man land areas in the east.
shattered / desperately singled out camps / highly personalized loss scores and mounting presure from new deserter's exits are core to the recruitments.
Economical burden of ordinary citizens have entirely taken out from the equations.
Fiance Minister who also holds the defense ministry have no other better way of manipulating the ongoing agony of Srilankan future. Very profitable combination of ministries when holding and runing the government.
we sadly welcome the 50000 to the on-slaughter Colosseum.

(LeN-2007 June 18, 7.50 pm) The Ordinary Level examination is one of the crucial examinations in the country which decides the future education of the children but it is sad to note that 52.7% of the applicants who sat for the exam have failed it. According to statistics issued by the Examinations commissioner General Anura Edirisinghe 21,813 students have not passed a single language.
These 21,813 are well qualified to join the forces.
But the latest information is that Education Minister's daughter has also failed the examination. She is being educated in one of the top most schools in Colombo 04.
Minister's daughter is well qualified for high ranking officer position in the Women corps. |

They are forced to serve the army, But still few manage to escape.
People in the village are facing so many problems now, All false promises given to them(village developments).
May be some of them will join and latter become JVPers.
GOSL need men to protect the captured areas in the EAST, Tigers are still operating in the east, so called cleared areas.
Daily there are attacks going on, Also Govt also have realized they cant destroy the tigers by only bombing, they need ground forces.
Also boys who are been selected as Airforce/Navy men never get a chance to fly/sail, they also been used on ground.

We have 100% anti-war, left wing operators in this forum. Interesting that they have the same opinion as that of the Russian communists during the first world war.
Where are we heading? |

I am reading all the things you guys are writing.Of course unemployment is high in SL. One reason our people wouldn't take a smaller job (status quo) but same people can go to another country and become dish washers, road cleaners, janitors etc. Funny ha.
Expats living outside compare SL life to their standards. Believe it or not we may have money but most of expats I ran into are not happy. They are too busy making money than enjoying the life. In SL you go to a poorest house and they seems to happier than western people.
Go to SL and stay for couple of months then you'll see the real life rather than staying in a hotel for couple of weeks and take a flight back home. Sri Lankan may have a harder life but same time I finding most of them find a time to enjoy their family, friends and go to a religious place. We expats are the most unsatisfactory people in SL.
End of the day we are the sorry group.
