Why can't they show the picture? It's not like showing her face or something....It's to win the hearts and minds of the tamil people. Thats the purpose.

Anyway, who told her to get pregnant in these troubled times? She knows that if she has to flee the area, she's in some big trouble....That's called family planning...you know....

Let me make something Clear...

Tigress is right for asking what is the purpose of this picture

Look at the article and look at the picture very carefully
1) The article clearly says
Doctors of the Sri Lanka Navy in the wee hours of Thursday (7) assisted in the delivery of a baby on board the MV Green Ocean

The child was not delivered in the van..This is a picture of the woman taken in an white Van (Let us think it is the ambulance?) The question is what is the motive/purpose showing a Navy Doctor in Blue shirt looking down at this woman. They could have just put the picture of the lady rather than showing the guy examining her down there..
2) The baby which is being held by the lady in uniform looks all cleaned up and fine.
3) Who on earth is going to wear a lovely Gold necklace inside a Ambulence..who is she? There is no way anyone will wear the necklace in Jaffna at this time.

I agree with Tigress. There is no need for this picture!

Thank 'god'!

Most important 'Fetal Positions' were optimal for a natural birth here.

Can you explain this in ordinary people's language lolz

Tigress thangatchi,

yes the child was delivered in the ship but this is the picture of the lady taken to Hospital in an ambulance.
There is no need to put a picture of the Doctor checking on her in that position..The Child is fine as you can see in the picture..

who the hell is that woman in Gold necklace..!

Berty Anna

it could be the daughter of the women who gave birth! the mother do not look like a young one. they were heading to jaffna from trinco?.

it is possible those young ones wear that sort of necklace. during the CFA peaceful time, plenty of money and jewelries went to north and east from overseas!!

so i will be surprised if no one wears them!!

Berty Aiye!

I'll try my best to make it short and simple, here we go:

There are few 'end positions' when the fetus comes close to 40th week-ten months.

Let me explain,

Babies can take vertical, horizontal or in between positions inside the womb.

And these positions can make the life easier or complicated for baby, mother and the helping 'personal'.

Let's see why,

Examples:

Most suitable position is 'head down' position and head is coming out first. This fetus position gets the maximum out of 'natural bio-mechanism of birth' (fetus's 'struggle' to 'come out' through complex of movings and bendings).

If we get a baby with a vertical position but coming out with his little bottom first, then we have a miner complicated situation on hands, since head of the fetus uses the levering points of mother's pelvis effectively than buttock.

And if we get a horizontal position then most of the times we should use the caesarean section to permit the safe birth.

Let me give you something about the priorities. Under all the difficult or complicated situations, where you get life threatening situation for mother, doctors are allowed to terminate baby's existence. :-(

As a doctor this is one of the nastiest moments you get in your professional life. :-(

Now as you can see they were very very very lucky to get this miracle kid with optimal positions.

One Very Lucky Little Sweetheart eh :-)

This is juts a fraction of birth related 'science', so if you want to know anything else just let me know. I am online for another hour or two.

:-D

Hope satisfied.
