Karavahater,

this demeli, wore a sleveless blouse and freely waved her arms about as if she was totally oblivious to the fact that she hadnt shaved her armpits for the past month or so. It was quite disgusting, why are demelis like that?

Well, I don't think you should be surprised by her not shaving. I have seen plenty of village girls with the same manner. Whether they are Tamil or Sinhalese girls I think they are not either used to shaving hair of the armpits culture or would not mind having them as they are.

Btw, I know some men shave it, it is natural for men to keep them but some do shave just for some reasons. Its all a dependent matter I guess.

I think Sri Lanka needs to reform her ways of appreciations, our people used to live under stress and with the minimum facilities for decades now and as long as this trend continues it will be hard for them to think of modern technologies and upgrading the everyday life style.

In SL, every decision is politically driven. Decision on infrastructure is purely driven by political agenda where powerful ministers get their areas developed while other areas left undeveloped. Half the development money goes to their pockets. Infrastructure development has to be given top priority. Unfortunately, LTTE is hellbent on destroying the infrastructure including the facilities given to tamil majority areas. A good political solution to address ethnic issue must be followed up with a good infrastructure development program.

Sri Lankans are accepting things as they are, which means the quality of the life deteriorating, I see it as a way of blind satisfaction, I don't know, don't see the reason why our people don't deserve many things, which are very average even in the other parts of Asia, things like going out in the end of the week, having at least one home PC and an automobile.

For some reason when all the others in the world chasing luxuries, we are limiting our selves for lower average levels.

We are (ab)using our health to survive while others use resources to effort luxuriates.

I think this is something very much related to our education system.

We all the Sri Lankans need to understand the importance of living beautifully and worthily.

Following picture is not a big deal but you can get an idea of what's happening when you see this picture and the people in it.
