Sri Lanka accuses `bullying` West

Sri Lanka`s defence secretary has said the international community, especially the UK and other European nations, are bullying his country over human rights.
Gotabaya Rajapaksa also said Tamil Tiger rebels had infiltrated the UN`s offices in the capital, Colombo, and were feeding it incorrect information.
The British government and UN said Mr Rajapaksa`s allegations were unfounded.
His claims came after the controversy over a police operation to evict 400 minority Tamils from Colombo last week.
The Sri Lankan government said the Tamils were being sent to their home areas in the north and east but backed down after an outcry at home and abroad and following a Supreme Court interim order stopping any more evictions.
`This is international bullying,` Mr Rajapaksa, who is President Mahinda Rajapaksa`s brother, told the BBC and Reuters.
`We won`t be isolated. We have all the Saarc [South Asia Association of Regional Co-operation] countries, the Asian countries.`
`Britain, or Western countries, the EU countries, they can do whatever. We don`t depend on them. They think that they we get aid. No, they are not giving anything.`
The UK and the US suspended small amounts of aid to Sri Lanka earlier this year citing human rights concerns.

The defence secretary said the police had taken action against only a small proportion of what he said were 17,000 ethnic minority Tamils living in cheap hotels in the city. ....

COLOMBO (Reuters) - Tamils are deported, abductions and killings are blamed on state security forces and Tamil Tiger rebels, and aid groups and truce monitors say they are obstructed from doing their jobs.
As Sri Lanka's civil war escalates, increasing its problems and need for international help, Sri Lanka risks isolation over human rights, diplomats and analysts say.
Both Britain and the United States have suspended some aid to Sri Lanka this year citing rights abuse concerns, and the World Food Programme slapped conditions on food aid to avoid war refugees being resettled against their will.

Documents taken from Alles' house
Valuable documents and CDs were stolen from the house of Tiran Alles, a former minister said.
Sacked minister Sripathi Sooriyaarachchi said the missing documents had evidence to prove that President Mahinda Rajapaksa gave money to LTTE before the presidential elections.
Alles, who was arrested by the Terrorist Investigation Department (TID), was released on bail by Colombo magistrate earlier on Wednesday.

SL govt bullies minority Tamils and the West is accused of 'bullying' Sri Lankan leader and his brothers.
For every bully you can find another more aggressive bully somewhere.

Gota gave a clear picture of the IC and UN propaganda about GOSL.This is being done after penetrating these organizations by LTTE moles.
West always proper gate fund raising to terror and summon GOSL for peace talks.
It's sad to see SLFP not coming out to deal with core issues concerned to Human Rights.
MR should take off defense from his desk and make someone to work on it more actively. |

When Israel deports Palestinians to Lebanon/Egypt/Jordan/Syria, the Israelis get billions of dollars in aid and latest weapons in US armoury with UK and EU raising nary a finger. When 376 Tamils from the North and East who cannot explain their presence in Colombo are bussed to the North & East, it becomes a big issue. Clearly, this is down right HYPOCRISY and DOUBLE STANDARDS. |

What Gota and his brothers should get into their thick skulls is that WEST DOES NOT BENEFIT from the begging Slanka. It is the BEGGING Slanka which stands to BENEFIT from the west. Ironically, it is the west that is interested in peace and economic development in Slanka not the blood sucking slankan politicians who even misused 60% of Tsunami assistance. CBK used the money to buy properties in UK and France, MR used the money to win elections, etc. Jeyeraj pulle sold vehicle permits, etc.
Shut-up.

India won't give a damn. remember what was told to Gota !
Rest of SAARC are all begger nations who rely on aid from west.
