This is a very very smart move by the International Community to restrict the travel of Top Officials involved in Human Rights Abuses. Hopefully this action will change the outlook and thinking of these stupid abusers from doing what they want to do without any punishment. The political heads of this country need to reconsider their positions and be smart about all the moves they make from now on. Sri Lanka has come to a point where the smallest mistake could cost the country dearly.

All countries should follow suit and send back all slankans living in those countries, whichever it may, back to slanka so that they will know what is it like to be forcibly removed.

for once, i agree with you on this!

but it should be all Sri Lankans - Tamils, Sinhalese, everybody!
and, also, this would enable them to take part in resolving this issue by meeting head-on the challenges it poses, by living right there where the issue IS!

Swastika:

There is no point listening to various stories. We all know that there is a problem and this is not solved for the last 25 years or so. There is no point talking about what LTTE is doing or what various others say. You all know what Karuna or for that matter Anandasangaree is talking today. where were they in 1983 and what they were doing...so we can list more and more.

But all what GOSL has to do is put forward a viable solution acceptable to tamil people with southern consensus. Until this happens I'm sorry you are not going to see an end to this war.

Now there is no point saying LTTE wont accept LTTE is Terrorism etc.....you cannot anyway win.

sorry to come in here...reply to Raigamkolla.

do you think we need to come back to see this. We have gone through this and for our luck we are safe now. I meet many sinhala friends on a daily basis and they too are here after 1988-9 terror. Whom to be blamed? They too do not like to return.

no, no 'need' as such.

We have gone through this and for our luck we are safe now.

well... i wouldn't think you have to be necessarily lucky to CHICKEN OUT!
for all i can understand, you (being an expat Tamil supportive of LTT) take the same risk as an ancient Roman gambler who bets his money on the slave who's fighting a lion in the ring!

i'll believe it when a Sinhala friend of yours says it me firsthand - for all too obvious reasons!

but, not for the same reasons as YOU are!

i was in the US from 1990-91 to complete the final year of my degree, and since then have been one happy Sri Lankan (out of millions more) living on Sri Lankan soil!
