| I don't know whether expelling Tamils from lodges like this is illegal. But it's simply foolish & morally wrong. So called people in the power have no right to abuse their power and abuse SL citizens like this. Such as actions runs directly contrary to the goal of a united Sri Lanka and reconciliation and for what thousands of men and women of Sri Lanka's armed force have paid their lives with. Does these actions help us win our fight against terrorism? No. It is sad to see heads of GOSL going down to the level of the LTTE. Some one has to take the responsibility for these actions on the part of the GOSL. |

State involvement makes this far worse than ?83 ? Hakeem
June 8 (DM) The SLMC -- a coalition partner of the government -- condemned the eviction of ?overstaying Tamils? in Colombo yesterday, describing it as a situation far worse than the 1983 riots. Speaking in Parliament during the debate on the crisis, SLMC Leader and Minister Rauff Hakeem said that what made the situation worse than 1983 was the fact that, this time, it was the State which was responsible for the act, while unruly mobs had initiated the 1983 riots. more.. |
