Economic boom
Mr Clinton's most enduring legacy is likely to be the economic boom which began shortly before he took office in 1992.

Fed boss Alan Greenspan: the architect of the miracle?
During the eight years of the presidency, the economy expanded by 50% in real terms, and by the end of his tenure the US had a gross national product of $10,000bn - one quarter of the entire world economic output.
The booming US economy has brought economic benefits right across the income spectrum.
The unemployment rate has dropped by half, to 4%, a 40-year-low, while the economy has created some 15 million jobs.
The stock market grew even faster - by more than three times - creating thousands of millionaires among middle class stockholders, and employees of fast-growing companies like Microsoft - before the high tech index, the Nasdaq, fell back sharply this year.

If you can find me a Sri Lankan President who created 15 million jobs or let the economy expand by 50%, then we can talk. Clinton was the best thing that happened to the USA. Everyone who lives here agrees on that. So don't talk out of your arse, especially if you live in the direct grasp of that corrupt *hit-hole of a frozen bowel movement, Sri Lankan politics. | Only in Sri Lanka the poor youths go to the battle front andv get killed. This is the only country at war with its own citizens has no constription. That means the rich, influencial and children of law makers can avoid joining the SLAF and disregard the deprived section of the country. |

I don't see any use in crying about SLA soldiers or LTTE fighters since both in the wrong place by influence of totally ill minded leaders and leaderships.
Poor village boys from both ends in this conflict dies just for the fantasies and crooked leaders.
I should not use the word leaders either.
Totally screwed, short visioned, badly venomed bureaucrats equally on both sides dragged this long and prepared to lead for another era.
We keyboard warriors see this is the war between two entities, no one better than other.
May be, but the way, and agenda they on is utterly disgusting.
Reading all posts shows how both ethnics groups hate each others. Sadly it is not from our blood, but from the materials we reads and and way it has crossed the messages.
No need to repeat that Politicians are the first who have created these mess, and still fuming to the best.
It is clear now , south is not like to mingle with Tamils and vice versa.
Though no one wants to admit it for various blurry reasons, it is the fact. Like it or dislike it Tamils all become tigers and tigers are Sinhalese worst enemies.
But there are Tamils never ever been to or no root in north or east. They also now feels the heat of this war.
They do speaks/writes very fluent Sinhalese except their names in pure Tamil. BUT the hassles they are going through NO different to others.
Don't beleive tamils happiness among sinhalese in south as it is no longer the case.
Constant harrasment in one form or another was the start of LTTE in many years back.
It is also creating a very complicated dimension in this aspect. It is a dangerous avenue which many not yet realized. It is only matter of time that one of these youth linking to LTTE.
By the time you finish off in north, there will be new headarch waiting for you in south in diffrent format.
No one going to listen to any one.
When time comes, it will be too late.
World tired and sick of war against terrorism.
No countries won against unless visible changes to the affected parties available.
Temporary victories for Forces and 5 years victory for politicians will do wonders in their careers but ordinary citizens will have to pay big for their life ! Edited By - Regi - 5 Jun 2007 02:13:15 GMT |

President Mahinda Rajapakse on Friday said he was willing to resume talks with the rebels even as fighting continued in the troubled northern and eastern regions, where deaths are reported daily.
This is how the Press twist facts.
We know that Mahinda Rajapakse was ready for talks not only now but even before he became the president.
The reporters should say that Mahinda Rajapakse reiterated his commitment to have negotiations despite the violence broke out since he became the President.
The Press should also emphasize that LTTE had walked away from peace table one year after the CFA and has not shown any commitment to continue negotiations to have a political solution. |

smile4u,
Avoiding the question is one way for you to admit your stupidity. Why don't you apply for a civil service post in Sri Lanka? You don't even need to be qualified. Edited By - Kandyan - 5 Jun 2007 18:17:05 GMT |
