Mr President, the Tamil Tigers launched their first attack against your government and against the Sri Lankan people only weeks after you came to power. Why do you think it was, that after so long of adhering to the peace plan, they suddenly decided to start attacking again?

can Teymoor Nabili explain which one was the 'first attack by the LTTE' after MR took over the presidency.
It was not LTTE it was the GOSL started the violence after MR became president. |

talk about what?
it is very clear ,the govt wants the CFA amended or wanted to make a new truce.
both violated the truce, the ltte says the CFA has become defunct and the international community has no back bone to press the govt to implement the truce.
govt says, the truce is flawed, the ltte militarily strengthen them selves during the CFA never like before and not even like the elephant pass era! and the truce help them to re organize.
if both go to an other round of talks, and the govt agree to implement the agreed CFA , the east will be handed back to the ltte, and the govt will be responsible for the loss of more than 6000 civilians + combatants death since MR came to power..
ltte will not go to an other round of talks, if CFA and geneva1 is not fully implemented.
what is the point of making an other truce? if the govt cannot keep up with the already signed truce?
what is there to talk while this govt is living on false hope day by day! and thinking the others are stupid!

So you are saying that you think the Sri Lankan people would prefer a defeat of the LTTE first?
First. Opinion polls seem to suggest that peace is much more important to the Sri Lankan people. For the people, LTTE, peace - the people want peace, that is the truth, without defeating the LTTE, without defeating the terrorism of the LTTE. There is no politics in this. There is a political side and terrorism here. This is a terrorist group. The people are aware that as long as a terrorist organisation exists, that negotiations will not be successful. They are making use of the negotiations to strengthen themselves, to bring in arms. This is a historical fact, historically because the people have been battered. Today we have to be very careful.
So let me be clear on this: what you're saying is that there must first be military victory and then peace talks?
No. That is not what I hope for. Until the terrorists are weakened, they will not come for talks. As long as they think they are strong, they will try to break up the country. Today, what we hope is to fulfil the aspirations of the Tamil people.
What do you mean by weakened? At what point will you accept that the Tamil Tigers are weakened because it's now been almost a year of ?
Even under today's circumstances. Clearly said, what the people expect. But what I expect is not that. I said that even today I am ready to negotiate, very clearly. My argument is that terrorism has to be got rid off. We cannot kneel down to that. I am not prepared to kneel down to their arms capability. But I am committed to ensuring the rights of the Tamil people. That I will achieve, somehow.

We are not a Conquering Army; We are Liberating innocent Tamils from Ruthless LTTE terrorists
Please go and ask the innocent Tamils.
How many innocent Tamils have been raped and brutally killed by GOSL state terrorists and how many Tamils were raped and killed by LTTE ( LTTE never raped women).
Of course Tamils prefer to live under a democratically elected Government but GOSL forces are in North and East just to show the Singala stupid superiority, nothing else. |

Now the situation is similar to 1995/1996! After withdrawing from Jaffna, Mullaituva was completely liberated. Now after withdrawing from the east, North is going to be liberated completely! |
