I do agree with Spice about certain things but same time government is trying to save colombo people. They didn't ask tamils who lives in colombo to leave. They asked who came from North and East to leave. LTTE will make this situation for their propaganda and MR being somewhat stupid to fall into the trap. What they should do was put all visiting tamils in a apartment complex and monitor their whereabouts. If not we can't find who is the sucide terrorist in the group. It is like finding a needle in a hay stack.
Anyway I thought most of tamils in those regions believe Velu is theie deffender according to Tigress, Thambi,DALDAV,Priyanthy and etc. So why don't they ask protection from LTTE. If they want to go abroad their is LTTE Air Force or LTTE Navy can help them.

The Government wasn't even able to put up a radar system after the LTTE flew planes over Colombo. Do you think the Government can effectively monitor the whereabouts of 5000 Tamils?

By the way, this will not stop the LTTE from smuggling explosives into the Capital. The suicide bombers or whoever will just come with a different set of fake identity papers, and explosives strapped to themselves. I'm also willing to wager that some of these suicide attacks were caused in part by policemen being bribed.

kankun,

The 'tin cans' will come again, don't worry. Don't forget that the 'tin cans' could easily have dropped some bombs on some busy intersection, or bombed a holy site like Maligawa. Imagine the race riots that could have ensued. SL would have lost a hell of a lot of international backing. Its good that the 'tin cans' chose to stick to military targets, even though the whole island was at their mercy.

Also, don't blame the radar failure on India. Lets not make excuses here. The first time the LTTE used its planes was over Palaly Airforce base. When that attempt failed, the government tried to dismiss the attack as 'rocket fire.' When the 'tin cans' came to Colombo and bombed the airport, it would have been easy for some Kfirs or MiG's to take to the sky and follow them on the return route. When the 'tin cans' came back, five weeks later I believe, and bombed the oil place, the government/military was still not ready. There is no excuse here. After the airport was bombed, the first priority of the government should have been to set up an effective radar system, or else repair the existing damaged one, or else just activate the existing one - whatever the case may be! If this had been done, the tin cans would be out of commission now.

Is the Govt of SL is Taking the right choice by sending all the tamils to one area. This would instigate more problem and or change the attidue of the Tamil speaking people overall towards the Government. Separating Tamils is not going to help solving the problem. The world is watching over SL. This action is not going to help the GOSL instead tthe LTTE and or other groups would gain more support from the ill treated people. The Question is where the Govt. is heading towards, peace, freedom or disater. Where the democracy is gone! Where are the Politicians. What happend to the Tamilian Votes given to the Ruling Party from the Central Province. This makes the entire nation a wake up call.

Vamp4 Good ghost.

Reincarnation of JRJ or Gamini Disanayaka. Oh sorry you are one step ahead. Still no match to MR. Need some tuition / crash course to become venerable.

As a temporay solution you can ask them to go back. But in long run if Tamils living in N, E or hill country need to come to colombo where they will stay. If LTTE wants to plant bombs or attack a person they can live in some other place, specially residence of tamil businessmen or politicians. But when poor tamils can't such previledge. So closing lodges in Colmbo for tamils will not reduce the treat to Colombo from LTTE. We wait and see how this action will produce.
