OH MY GOD!
I am beyond baffled by the dictatorship of this government and it's racist ideology!

It is not upto the IGP to tell people what Rights are more important and what is not. No one can deny the Right to Life of anyone is held in high esteem but the IGP and the Government seems to have forgotten the Right to Life of the Tamil civilians who are being forced back into the warzone which both sides are clandestinely bombing! This itself shows the selfishness and disgusting ideology that has begun to infest Sri Lankan mentality! It is the racist extremist elements that have already created a separate state in the country! If Sri Lanka is ONE country as our politicians and other blind racists claim it to be - then ALL of its citizens have a right to be ANYWHERE they want to be at ANYTIME! It is not upto the IGP or the President to tell ANY citizen of Sri Lanka where they should be living or not - under ANY law!

Ordering citizens out of areas is reminiscent of the ethnic cleansing carried out in Uganda by Idi Amin and later in Rwanda. Sri Lanka is slowly but darkly heading that way. And it's time the populace realises the shadow of racism and primitive ideology that they are obsessed in!

People have gone ultra-patriotic - not for the country but for the Government! I must give the government some credit for their great propaganda programmes. They have twisted patriotism from being patriotic to ones country and ones people to instead obeying and believing every command of a government full of corrupt and largely uneducated politicians. WE MUST LEARN TO BE PATRIOTIC TO OUR COUNTRY! AND BEING PATRIOTIC TO OUR COUNTRY MEANS BEING PATRIOTIC TO OUR PEOPLE - TO THEIR FREEDOMS, THEIR RIGHTS - THE RIGHT TO BE EQUAL, THE RIGHT TO LIVE FREELY, THE RIGHT TO SPEAK OUT, THE RIGHT TO LIVE UNFRAID, THE RIGHT TO LIVE IN PEACE. The State together with other maniacal parties have hijacked PATRIOTISM like how they have hijacked Buddhism and converted it into being patriotic to a corrupt, inefficient and dictatorial Government!

SRI LANKA IS HER PEOPLE! SRI LANKA IS NOT HER TREES, ROCKS AND SOIL! WE KEEP FIGHTING FOR THIS SOIL AND EXPRESS IMMENSE DELIGHT IN CAPTURING ACRES OF LAND NO MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE DIE - BECAUSE WE MUST PRESERVE THE 'TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY OF SRI LANKA'! WHAT IS SRI LANKA IF HER PEOPLE AREN'T THERE? IF HER PEOPLE ARE MAIMED AND TIRED? IF HER PEOPLE ARE PSYCHOLOGICALLY DISTURBED THROUGH DECADES OF VIOLENCE AND A DEVASTATING TSUNAMI?

WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARE SITTING ON A TIME BOMB THAT WE HAVE CREATED OURSELVES!

WE HAVE LOST THE VALUE FOR OUR OWN PEOPLE AND HAVE GOTTEN OBSESSED IN LAND AND TERMS LIKE PATRIOTISM - FORGETTING WHO WE ARE PATRIOTIC TO AND WHOM WE SHOULD BE TO!

STAND UP FOR OUR PEOPLE - NOT OUT CORRUPT GOVERNMENT!

Dear Kankun
If the Sri Lankan government want to behave like the LTTE then what makes them any better than the group they are fighting? What makes us any better for supporting either group?

This is not about tic for tac. That's what we as children learnt not to do.

The LTTE forcefully evacuating Muslims and Sinhala nationals from the North and East was ethnic cleansing and an action, together with many more, that rightly gave them the terrorist label. But the Sri Lankan government doing something on the same line???? Have we forgotten whom we are talking about? This is supposed to be a freely elected government, chosen by a free people, with the duty to protect and foster their freedom. Not a freely elected government to act freely as they like.

Governments don't move people about or tell them where they should be living. That's not their job! People will decide where they want to live! If they are concerned for security then it's time to adopt other methods that won't require people being gathered and herded around the country based on their ethnicity. Most countries facing terrorism, especially home grown terrorism, have found ways of protecting civilians and national security without infringing on people's freedoms. The Sri Lankan government's incapability in doing so doesn't mean that they are unable to, but that they are just pure lazy in making the effort to. People's rights are of no concern to this Government and it's entire state machinery. This whole conflict would have never started if basic rights and freedoms were respected. If people were treated on their own individual merits and not that of their group.

Tamils ordered out of Lodgers back to North East under escort as per the IGP.
After last nights 'Find' of an explosive laden Lorry in Puttalam District heading to CBO, no Lorries & Vans permitted from North East!

Is Eelam already being created by the Govt?

So the Sri Lankan government is admitting to its stupidity, by taking such actions. It is showing that it cannot contain the LTTE, except by resorting to extroardinary measures such as this. Such a measure is hardly effective however; for there to be any long-term feasibility, all the Tamils would have to be kicked out of Colombo. Of course, that would bring international condemnation translated into loss of millions in already shrinking aid money. And of course, less overseas bashes for MR & family. MR is a fairly good lapdog of the West. Whereas CBK had Kidirgimir, MR does the talking himself. But he is not a dumb lapdog; thats why this eviction thing comes as such a surprise. I am guessing a Black Tiger presence is on the move in Colombo; Fonnseka's rear may have experienced inflammation or else Gotbahya is just paranoid after his last narrow escape. Whatever the case... the fact that the government cannot respond reasonably to a potential crises shows its inefficiency (not that we really need reminders after the Tsunami).

Police reaction

http://www.dailymirror.lk/2007/06/02/front/5.asp

Responding to a question raised by the media during a ceremony to inaugurate the Police Tourism Division, the IGP reiterated the police force was completely committed to protecting human rights and that the ?right to live? had to be given prominence over every other right for the common man.

?When we have suicide bombers killing innocent people in the city our first priority is to protect them. In such a case there are times when the rights of individuals are affected. However, we must remember the most important right is the right to live and when we receive intelligence reports that there are plans by the LTTE to carry out an attack in Colombo we cannot treat them lightly,? he said.

Continuing with his justification of police actions IGP Perera said the order for Tamil lodgers to move out was not to cause undue hardship to them but to make sure that people who have a legitimate reason to enter Colombo were not denied the opportunity by other unscrupulous characters

?We have found out that people who have come to Colombo saying that they want to get a passport or a visa stay on for months after they have accomplished the task. These are people who have homes and we see no reason as to why they should remain indefinitely in Colombo. We have offered them transport to their homes and if they wish to return to get something done they could do so,? he said

Pure Tamilnet nonsense. Those Tams were loiterers and squatters who had been turned out. There was no racial angle in it.

Why not ask GOSL to liberate the Tamils living in Colombo first.. let the Tamils live freely in Colombo!

there are plenty of moderae law abiding tamils living peacefully in colombo who own their expensive homes and buisnesses contributing to the economy as well. It is the tamilswho have recently come to colombo and live in these lodges with deviant plans on the orders from the wanni whom the GOSL is trying to wean out. unfortunately this is the price the innocent tamils living at these lodges have to pay for the grandiosity of the pig in the wanni who feels he has to be protected at any cost.
