Mahinda Rajapakse and Velupillai Prabakaran work in unison with the same motive to bring about the same end.
Tamil owners of 68 lodges in Pettah (Peaddai) Police Division in Colombo have been instructed by the Police Officer in Charge of Pettah to immediately expel around 5000 Tamil tenants from Northeast and Upcountry, currently staying in 68 lodges in Pettah,

This is not the first time Tamils were chased away from Colombo by the sinhala racists and facists.
This is another strong case that Tamils SHOULD have their own state, the People's Republic of Thamileelam,so that no modayaas can chase the Tamils away whenever they want.

I dont know what to believe, but I was listening to Sirasa and the police has denied this allegation.

If I may put my two cents, and if this is indeed true, this is a very ill-advised and short-sighted move. There are lot of people who are in these lodges for very legitimate reasons.

However, the police has denied and I think sanity will prevail.

Sk63,

I also hope and pray wiser counsel will prevail. As you say those who have sought refuge are Tamils who are in genuine fear of their lives and at the bottom of the social group.

Niru,

Good to see you make many sensible contributions here. I have seen many of your posts and they have always been very sensible.

I personally dont think the police will ask ALL the members from the Tamil community in lodges to vacate within 24 hours. Apart from the silly nature of that order, it would be a logistics nightmare. This could well be a major misinterpretation. However, the police should have made it clear as soon as they came to know it.

I have a feeling though, this could be an attempt to create a wrong impression and the news may have ulterior motives. This is how i feel about it

If the government or the police actually ordered it then it is wrong and right thinking people will condemn it. If it was spread by interested parties to cause trouble, then they should be dealt with according to the law.

SK63,

Thank you for your generous complement. I also lose my balance sometime and go over the top. Your contributions are always moderate and valuable but unfortunately you have limited such comments. I can understand as I myself question the usefulness of any contribution.

I am worried that all these not well-thought out impulsive moves may become unstoppable and lead unforeseen and undesireable consequences for the unity of people and country.

I listen to IGP's talk in tv. He said there are some people in these lodges with no appearent reason to stay in colombo. Police has asked only these people to go back to villeges and police will provide the transport. If they want to come back to colombo they can do so in the future.

I think Tamilnut is misleading tamil people as usual.

If Tamils are ordered to vacate in Pettah, Sinhalese also should be ordered to vacate from all the Eastern province and they have nothing to do there.

Most the sinhalese immigrants living in Trincomalee( Tamil Areas ) should be vacated under the UN supervision like Tamils in Pettah.
