USA lost Vietnam WAR, Why? Lack of motivation and enthusiasm from American Soldiers.

LTTE tries the same.

Foreign agencies must speak to escapees from the LTTE
Rajasingham Jayadevan

INTERVENTION: The situation in the uncleared LTTE controlled areas in Sri Lanka for families with children have become grave. Desperate and highhanded efforts of the LTTE recruiters to grab children at their will for military training have opened another chapter in the LTTE war efforts to use unwilling innocent civilians as human fodder.

The legitimacy of the Tamil people's demand for justice, freedom and unhindered participation to be a part of the inclusive society in Sri Lanka has been waylaid by the LTTE and their mere survival is now at stake in the hands of the LTTE, which projects itself as the champion to win the legitimate rights for the Tamil people.

Few parents after losing their children to the LTTE recently, have escaped to the vibrant town of Vavuniya and are desperately trying to seek help for their children's release from LTTE captivity.

One mother called me from Vavuniya early this morning (28/5) and was emotively crying to seek my help to release her son, who was captured by the LTTE for military training to attack the northern Jaffna peninsula.

When I asked how she obtained my telephone number, she said her relative in London gave it to her to speak to me. She was sobbing and was speaking with subdued voice and repeatedly asked me to help release her son from LTTE captivity.

She said she has five children and the LTTE have forcefully taken away one of her sons recently. 'Before they were only taking one child from a family and they are now going for more,' she said. 'A family having four or more children have to part with their two children in their current recruitment drive,' she further said.

WhatreaalyHap:

the GoSL is not capable of defeating the LTTE by its self

Did the present govt ever talk about defeating LTTE.

Only weakening.

They are already weakened. Even in 2005, November VElu knelt infront of MahindaR and paryed saying ayyo Sami, you are Pragmatic and bla bla bla....

Let's not fight ourselves. Enough of problems created by Pirabaharan.
We should unite to defeat the ill minded people like this.

Im not saying GOSL is 100% correct, specially the government which was there in 1983.

However the problem started before 1983. Whatever it is, 1983 action was one of the worst mistakes that GOSL did.

That action fueled the wishes of an ill minded people.

At least we should unite now, not to fertilize any racist acts.

Let them fight if they want, at least we shall not fight here.
One day there will be a place for good thoughts.

Sinhala people are not bad, if so 75% of tamils cant live in Colombo and suburbs.

In the Nazi Germany, the Jewish people and their businesses were targeted and the same thing is happening in Colombo under the Sinhala Hitler Mahinda Modabakshe's Pinochet rule. All of the Sinhala racial riots against the Tamils created Prabhakaran and the continuing Sinhala state terrorism against Tamils will create many more Prabahakrans. That is a good thing.

No need to go back to 1983 and start again. It was so ugly. Let's continue with what so far achieved.

One prabakaran is totally enough to destroy Tamils, why does MR need more?

Piedmon,

India is smart and she knows that for as long as she can keep Sri Lanka and Thamil Eelam at war, then foreign investment and everything else will flow only into India. If you want to understand how India works have a look at Pakistan.

Finally having the light ! Not only, India, all those weapons manufacturing nations do not want to stop the war.

I have always wondered why SL does not have its own armaments industries. The country is so full of natural resources... resources that could easily be converted into military hardware. And I have little doubt that the 25,000 or so unemployed undergrad's would mind doing some R & D... not to mention, the Sinhala women who go abroad, could easily work in arms factories in SL instead. It took the SL Army 10 months to capture the East... if the economy was on a war footing, it would have taken 10 days. Thats how fast entire countries fell to the German war machine of WWII, which, by the way, was entirely self-sufficient to the last. The Allies needed 1 million men for Normandy, so you get some indication of how strong that war machine was.

Good idea, but

1. They are international laws which prevents countries making weapons

2. Big countries do not want small countries making weapons; If Sl starts making weapons, there is a possibility of reverse engineering. so other countries will not sell weapons to SL.

3. we do not have know-how and infra structure relevant to indigenous industrial growth
