If it was not for the stupid JVP and SLFP which put pressure on Premadasa to seek an end to IPKF's role in Slanka, they would have eliminated LTTe a long time ago. Then we would not have had to beg before every begger for arms and assistance. Today, SLFP leader (MR) keels down before every muslim and yellow man without any shame and beg.
What is the use of over 200,000 slankan troops backed by all kinds of modern war machinery if they cannot fight less than 4000 LTTE fighters. SLA is chicken compared to good armies in the world. |

On the other hand they will not help LTTE because a state between TN and TE could mean more trouble for Indian progress.
India's position is slowly changing... India may see Tamil Eelam as more of expanding their own territory... TN on the other hand have no reason to break away from India, TN would rather see TE as a way to expand their market.
TE will be good for TN economically as TE will be a bog market for TN products.... |

India against Lanka seeking arms from Pak
Chennai, May 31: Sri Lanka should not seek weapons from Pakistan or China and it should come to India whatever might be their requirement, National Security Advisor M K Narayanan said here today.
After meeting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi here, he told mediapersons that 'We are a big power in the region. We don't want the Sri Lankan government to go to Pakistan or China. Whatever may be their requirement, the Sri Lankan government should come to us.'
However, he said, 'India will not provide weapons with offensive capabilities to Sri Lanka. '

I tend to disagree with you here buddy. The reason is the Tamil speaking population on TN will have the tendency to form a strong bond between TN & TE this will be the ultimate chaos for a fragile federal India. This is why I see India are playing the cat and mouse game with TE and SL.
India will support for a Federal plan or even confederal plan but not separatism.
Since LTTE are hellbent on separatism India slowly watching with interest and caution than anything.
Pakis and Chnos will always help to create tension around India for obvious reasons.
Anyway, I don't see any light in this long unwinding path of war other than reasonable understanding and devolution of power within a United Lanka.
