Punchi,
Vincent Churchill fought Nazis as a democratically elected prime minister. I donīt think dictatorship will be tolerated in Sri Lanka either. Ven. Thero might have been impressed by the Thai military ruler. |

India is well known for diplomatic blunders throughout itsī history. Twise they lost war against China. Kashmir is still unsettled. First they nurtured LTTE without predicting its boomerang effect.
India will soon or later witness consequences of beign neutral on Lanka issue when she sees herself getting disintergrated.
This covert operation is called ''Operation Brahmaputhra''. RAW is quite aware of developments, it is like a time bomb to be exploded. |

Yes, from the begging Indians did the same. They cheate or bribe our officials and do forged investment in SL and take money out of SL. Our idiots are readdy to give everything to foreigners but when we ask even a cent to start a business or study they come with hundreds of conditions. I remember I wanted Rs. 60,000/= to follow an MBA at colombo university in 2001 and not a single financial institute granted it saying my income (I worked as a reserach officer in a reserach institute for Rs. 9,000/= per month then) was not sufficient to pay back it. I saw recently Navin Dissanayakae who is late Gamini Dissanayaka's son (Gamini earned billions of money from working as the minister for mahaweli ministry) and presently working as a minister has been granted Rs. 12 million by People's bank to do an MBA in Spain.
This appears if we can give some 'santhosom' to some of our officials they are ready to do any bad thing.
See what happend to our sugar factories, nylon 6, Ply woood corp, fertilizer corp, oil and fats, milkborad.
How can we develop such a country. Edited By - saliya - 31 May 2007 20:13:19 GMT |

Sri Lanka is not a democracy but a mockracy calling itself a democracy. Right now we have a dictator who has all key institutions directly or indirectly under his control.
So MR openly becoming a dictator will not change the day to day running of the country, the only thing would be is that all other political will disappear.
But this will also put another nail in the SL economic coffin, whether that is enough to hold it shut is anyone's guess. |

Why not look at a military rule with a sunset clause of 10 yrs.
Military holding the portfolio of defense and foreign affairs. Appointing a prime-minister and smaller cabinet from the private sector with clear mandate to revitalize the economy and re-building. Compensation based on current earning factored to inflation. Edited By - DVLADV - 31 May 2007 20:37:06 GMT |
