LTTE suffers heavy loses in sporadic clashes; over 40 LTTE cadres killed
The LTTE terrorists continue to suffer heavy loses as the security forces at Northern, Eastern and Wanni fronts are further consolidating their defences using novel anti-terror tactics. According to the latest information received by the radio monitoring elements of the security forces at least 40 LTTE cadres, including 7 very senior cadres were killed during last 72 hours.

In Batticaloa the troops clearing ahead in the eastern province gunned down a group of seven LTTE cadres who had attempted to move across the Eravur area on Wednesday evening (23). It is reliably understood that the group of terrorists had moved into the area to disrupt the resettlement of displaced people which is now being successfully undertaken by the government. It is further known that group was also entrusted with the task to provide assistance to the troubled LTTE leader 'Jeyam' who is presently entrapped in the Thoppigala terror base.

Following the attack, the troops conducted a swift cordon and search and found one General purpose machine gun, six T 56 assault rifles, one micro pistol, six claymore mines each weighing 15 kgs and a stock of ammunition. Troops also recovered several dresses worn by Muslims. Speculation is that the infiltrators planned to move dressed as Muslims.

According to the latest information the self styled 'Colonel' Nagulan, the person in charge of LTTE's Charles Anthony band; 'Major' Maniwannan Master, the LTTE's intelligence coordinator for Batticaloa and; LTTE female cadre Mala, a senior member of LTTE's Sothiya band were also among the dead LTTE cadres. Two photographs taken of themselves with terror chief V. Prbakaran were also found with two dead LTTE cadres. The bodies were later handed over to the ICRC.

Meanwhile, the army troops spear heading to the Thoppigala area skirmished with LTTE terrorists on Thursday (24) morning. Radio communication among the LTTE cadres revealed that two of its cadres were killed during the confrontation.

Separately, in the North, the naval troops foiled an amphibian terror attack at the Delft Island on Thursday (24th) morning. LTTE has reportedly deployed 18 craft including six suicide boats in the operation. The naval retaliation has destroyed 2 LTTE boats and inflicted damages to 2 others. The Air Force has also claimed destroying two more boats as the fighter jets bombed at withdrawing LTTE boats.

Eighteen LTTE cadres including seven senior cadres were believed to have killed in the confrontation. According to the radio monitoring by the Electronic warfare units, LTTE's Sinnathurai Vijeykala ('Major' Thamil Vendhani), Weerasinham Iyankaran ('Captain' Muhilan), Panja Chalan Suhandan ('Lieutenant' Sudheshan) , Sebasthiyan Pillai Mary Kanista ('Lieutenant' Thanivili), Kadirapillai Mariyakoraei ('Captain' Thalaithendul) ,Chandrasekaran Mayuran (Sirimaran) , Fransis Unis Kumar (Kadal Mahindan) and Anton Sujandan (Kadal Chelvan) were among the dead LTTE cadres.

Meanwhile, naval officials rejected the LTTE's claim that 35 naval personnel were killed during the battle as weird exaggeration. According to the naval sources only four naval personnel were killed and four others were injured.

Separately, army troops manning Northern FDL at Nagarkovil shot down an LTTE cadre who attempted to infiltrate in to the own FDL on Wednesday (23) morning.

On the Wanni front, the army troops clearing a head the forward defence line (FDL) in west of Omanthai killed 12 LTTE cadres in two separate incidents during last 36 hours. A successful ambush laid ahead of the FDL killed the first 10 LTTE cadres and the other two were killed while trying to infiltrate in to the Security forces FDL.

Revy,

What is your problem?

For 35 , we got 40 in less than 24 hours including some leaders, satisfied?...

The cost of return to the war for LTTE is going to be VERY HIGH...Former US embassador said last year..

More determined and capable SLA will fight the LTTE this time... it is prooven that LTTE's power in the east was just a myth...Karuna alone will look after the LTTE in the east..

Man, read some newspapers...Don't cut and paste.
