The Sri Lanka Bribery and Malpractices Investigation Commission received over 600 complaints against public officials within the first five months of 2007.
Director of the Commission, Senior Superintendent of Police Neville Guruge, said this is an increase of 35% compared to 2006.
The Director said there is a delay in investigations due to the lack of staff and space in the office. He said the Commission lacks around 80 officials for the smooth conduct of investigations.
