'Abducted' Indian fishermen return

A group of Indian fishermen allegedly abducted by Sri Lanka's Tamil Tigers have returned to Tamil Nadu on Friday.
Eleven of the 12 missing fishermen returned to Rameswaram, police said.

The whereabouts of the remaining fisherman is yet to be found.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Krishnamurthi told BBC Tamil Service that the group is being escorted to Chennai, where investigations are carried out.

12 fishermen went missing in the sea off Tamil Nadu in thge last week of March.

Police accused Tamil Tigers of abducting the group. The LTTE denied the charge.

It is too early to speculate whether they were in fact abducted by the LTTE, police told the BBC.

The LTTE are accused of smuggling weapons via Indian waters and other neighbouring countries.

Referring to the north and east, he said that people have lost everything and this has to be recognized fully.

(LeN-2007 May 18, 7.00 pm) Minister of the Chinese Communist Party's international department Chang Jiang has said China knows that a country's internal matters cannot be solved by military means but could be only solved only through negotiations.

The Chinese minister made this observation when he met with Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe during the UNP leaders visit to China.

Minister Jiang who pointed out that his party has loads of experience dealing with ethnic conflicts said that a dispute like in Sri Lanka could be solved only through a current and a relevant approach. He stressed that a high level of discipline and commitment is also required for the purpose.

And the so called IC, what are they doing? they cut aid for resettlement and development at a time where Sri Lankan government is trying to resettle displaced people in eastern province and develop eastern province. Why can't the political pundits see that the so called IC is only interested in war but not in peace? and they don't really want to develop Sri Lanka but to destroy it!
