Tigress
First and foremost, my name is Abdul Salaam. Pls. remember that.
i understand that you are supporting the govt fully because of what the ltte did in the past to the Muslims. (on that point, i would say , you should be happy, those Muslims are still alive)
You got it wrong. If you read my post carefully, I have listed several terrorist acts of the LTTE against unarmed innocent civilians, Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims. Further, as far as supporting the govt. goes, I think it is the duty of every Sri Lankan to support a democratically elected govt. in its war against terror and in its legitimate action to restore its authority and control over every inch of the Sri Lankan territory. That does not mean, every action of the govt., whether right or wrong, has to be supported. Where the govt. errs, the govt. must be made to correct itself
In my post, I didn't refer to the ethnic cleansing but only to the killings. By your comments within brackets, I believe you are referring to the ethnic cleansing. Let me ask you a question. You have claimed elsewhere, GOSL has also chased out Tamils from their homes. Assuming this to be the case, are you also happy that Tamils so chased out are still alive?
you want to keep the Muslim identity and wanted to side with the govt is understandable. it is purely for the purpose of survival and trying to fill the political vacuum created by this Tamil sinhala divide. i have no complain on that. if you are able to do it then go for it.
Wrong again. As I have made it clear more than once, it is not a question of siding with the govt. It is a question of standing for justice and what is right. The LTTE demand for Ealam comprising the North and East is blatantly unjust. Even before the legal de-merger which came about recently following the Supreme Court judgment, I have been arguing for a de-merger though the govt. was not proposing a de-merger at that time which means I was NOT siding with the govt.
I think you are letting your imagination run riot and rushing into wrong conclusions. We are not thinking of survival. As for the political vacuum you are talking about, sorry I don't understand that. What I understand is that there is a problem which needs a political solution that is just and fair not only by the Tamils and Sinhalese but by every Sri Lankan.
you are calling the ltte a terrorist but deny or justify the atrocities committed on Tamils by the govt. it is to me ,,is like pot calling the kettle black.
Have I denied or justified the actions of the govt? Show me. |
