| Special Forces of SLA have fought many battles and emerged victorious in almost all of them in the Eelam War 4. At one time during the siege to Vakarai, SLA ground forces found it difficult to advance due to heavy LTTE resistance. They had succeeded in breaching 1st and 2nd LTTE forward defence lines but could not penetrate the third. In the meantime, SLA troops could observe a group of shadowy figures stealthily crossing the Vakarai lagoon. These were none other than Special Forces units preparing for an assault on the Vakarai town center. After a few minutes, 40 highly trained and heavily armed Special Forces units carried a legendary amphibious assault on Vakarai town center causing the defending LTTE units to flee in chaos. The operation lasted for mere 5 minutes but it marked the end of a successful campaign for SLA and a crushing defeat for the terrorists. |

Rasak,
What it says is that poor lads are sent to the battle front and those affluent enjoy life in Colombo or stydyng abroad.
Can you explain why during the period of last 26 years of fighting NOT a single child or close relative of 225 MPs or Presidents ever sent to the war front? Because war is used by the ruling elitists to win election by bashing minorities with the help of expendable poor youths.
If they bring conscription as in other countries (Singapore or Malaysia) former president Chandrika K Said the war will stop automatically because those powerful law makers don't want to send their children to fight and die. This is the sorry Lanka. |

According to Government Spokesman of Maldives, Mohamed Hussein Shareef, it was the first crewmember rescued by the coastguards on Wednesday evening (16) that had revealed the LTTE connection to the incident. The crewmember speaking in South Indian Malayalam language had identified himself as a South Indian fisherman and told the coastguards that the trawler was smuggling arms and ammo for the LTTE.
He has further revealed that the four LTTE terrorists had hijacked the fishing vessel and threw the other crew members overboard along with the fishing equipment. The man has also claimed that he was spared because he is the Technical Officer on the boat, and was needed by the crew in case of breakdown.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports indicate that the destroyed trawler was the South Indian fishing vessel named 'Sri Krishana' which was hijacked by the LTTE terrorists on 12th March 2007. According to the available information the boat had a crew of 12 Indian nationals when it was seized by the LTTE terrorists. |

poor rasak
read the story carefully/crew said 4 ltte boarded the trawler and threw all crew maebers overboard.
the indian trawler sri krishna went missing in indian waters
on 12/*03 /2007 and maldives is more than 1000 kilometres away.
so what happened was ltte attacked boat in indian waters/loaded boat with weapons and then sailed 1000 km to
maldives instead of crossing the palk straits to ltte areas
which is about 45 km away
man special forces getting ground into dust in thoppigala

why not make it 700 million US dollars!
where do you quote your 'factual' figure from?
and we still use Shelll LPG, don't we!?
AGAIN, you can't be SEING something i don't FEEL, am i right?
we'll take stock again in 3 months, revy!
i am sure you will still be around by then, because i know you (unlike Raves - who is no more in the forums) do not have an iota of shame with you!
and, i sure will be around too - take my word! :-)
AGP oh dear you should read more before thinking you have caught me in a lie, or at least you should read more of my posts, because I never post numbers with having the reference to back it up, so as you requested:
Colombo - The Sri Lankan unit of Royal Dutch Shell suffered damages of at least $700,000 in an air attack by Tamil Tiger rebels last month.
Two bombs exploded at the Anglo-Dutch company's storage facility on the outskirts of Colombo, damaging one of its four storage terminals and disabling its fire-fighting operations, the company said.
''There was big damage to our fire-fighting facility and we estimate it will cost us in excess of $700,000 to put things back,'' Shell's Sri Lankan country director, Hassan Madani, told reporters here.

As for using Shell LPG, have you not seen the other news of shortages during that period. Also Raves is still around under a different handle.
Oh AGP did you also see this part in that same report, LOL more minor damage, or was it missed bombs, or whatever bovine excreta your government was shoveling at the time...
The Tamil Tigers also dropped bombs at a nearby oil storage depot which is jointly owned by the Indian Oil Corp and Sri Lanka's state-owned Ceylon Petroleum Corp.
Though neither of the two companies that own the oil storage depot have announced the cost of the damage, officials at the site said that one of the bombs scored a direct hit and destroyed a storage tank holding heavy oil.

''..The four aircraft which were reported to be completely overhauled were delivered to the SLAF. Recently two of them were listed as unserviceable. One, however, was repaired this week. The other remains still unserviceable due to minor defects. Air Force sources said spares were being awaited from Ukraine under the warranty to effect repairs..''
Nightfox old boy, Iqbal's reports are only as good as his sources, thus given the source is the Air Force, do you think they are going to tell iqbal that a Mig was down? LOL of course not, its going to be 'one jet down for maintenance...' too bad its... indefinitely LOL. |

Oh revy revy..
Indeed!!.. as prophesised, your answer is as predictable as Jose Mourinho's pooch.. you dont dissapoint geezer.. :)

I particularly like this line of yours:
''given the source is the Air Force, do you think they are going to tell iqbal that a Mig was down''..
Of course!!.. Iqbal Athas must have called the Airforce customer helpline for this titbit of information.. considering Iqbal Athas's agents within the AirForce in the past have given other damming details about their employer, strange how their unable to provide this particular fact!!.. wonderful logic!!
Also bewildering is how, given this NEW ''mysterious'' SAM threat supposedly over the Mullathivu district from the 30th of April, SLAF Mig bombers on the 12th May are streaking over Mullathivu at very LOW altitutde!!.. they must have some kind of death wish.. :)
Your truly ordained and indoctrinated.. you cant argue with the converted!!..
Keep believing tamilnet geezer!!.. :)
i'll look forward to the next tamilnet shafting when they report 4 SLAF migs dropped 20 bombs!!.. :) Edited By - Nightfox78 - 17 May 2007 15:17:00 GMT |

I also liked the following comments in MATTHEW ROSENBERG's recent article on Sri Lanka..
Sri Lanka seen heading back to civil war - on an even larger scale
Associated Press, Wed May 2, 2007 14:56 EDT .
EDITOR'S NOTE - The Associated Press was allowed to cross the front lines of Sri Lanka's civil war and make the first visit by foreign journalists to insurgent territory since the fighting was reignited last August.
By MATTHEW ROSENBERG
..In Kilinochchi, the main rebel-held city, the cease-fire seemed a distant notion as a pair of warplanes dropped flares to light up a rebel mortar position in the jungles beyond town. Farmers and insurgents scrambled into dank, makeshift bomb shelters as the jets dropped their bombs, OBLITERATING A REBEL MORTAR POSITION.
..The air raids are ''the one thing we're afraid of,'' says a 26-year-old who gave only her nom de guerre, Sita. ''There's nothing we can do against them.''
the young LTTE cardre SITA obviously sounds a little perturbed!!.. Revy, obviously SITA's isnt LOL!!.. sin Edited By - Nightfox78 - 17 May 2007 15:21:08 GMT |
