Tamil diaspora to propose outline of a basic constitutional proposal

Berlin, 15 May, (Asiantribune.com): The Tamil diaspora in Europe is planning to come of with a basic constitutional proposal when they meet during the two day session of the 34th literary meet.

According to the organizers, the 34th literary meet is planned to be held on 9 ? 10 of June in Berlin.

Writers, journalists, poets, critics, editors of magazines, broadcasters and many others are expected to participate in the literary meet.

The last literary meet was held at the East London University, London in September 2006.

The literary meet of the Tamil diaspora in Europe was first held in Hener, in Germany in the year 1988.

During that period more than 24 Tamil journals and magazines were published in Germany. The literary meet was organized initially as a forum for, Editors, writers and readers to meet and discuss and also bring about a literary, political and social awareness in the midst of Tamil diaspora in Europe.

Normally these meets were held in different European capitals.

The delegates participating in the 34th literary meet are scheduled to discuss and analyze the various constitutions that were so far in place in Sri Lanka. Also they intend to go through the various pacts and agreements Tamil political leaders entered with Sri Lankan Government leaders and explore the root cause for the ethnic conflict in the country.

Furthermore participants in the two-day conference would go into all those proposals that are presented to the All Party Representatives Committee before coming up with the outline of suitable proposals that may, in their view, would end the ethnic conflict.

Para Kumarasamy, one the organizers of the literary meet in Berlin, speaking to ?Asian Tribune? told that this time the delegates would go into problems and the shortcomings faced by the second generation Tamils living in Europe.

He also said that he expect nearly one hundred delegates from all over Europe for the two day meet.
