Professor Vitharana´s proposals are more or less based on a German type constitution .I find it very liberal and practical though it may surely face heavy criticism from the extremists of both sides.
If USA backs his proposals then LTTE and GOSL can be put on pressure to agree on a negociated solution.
Many People in Sri Lanka have a Phobia towards Federalism,in which the very concept of political system that has been evolving to assure the Unity of a nation than to seperation. |
