Piedmon,
I fully agree with you !
Today, we are a divided nation. The sooner we come to accept this reality, the quicker we can get on with building our shattered lives. Sinhalese and Tamils can never live as one people. The only viable solution is a NE Tamil Eelam and a SouthWestern SInhala dweepa.
Tamil Eelam + Sinhala deepa = Future
Sinhala deepa - Tamils = Hell |

Once around 1950's, Sinhala racists ignored the statement;
'If one language - two countries, if two languages - one country'.
Today, how it should be? |

unidentified attackers
The most funny thing in MR's govt is,
THey seems to be don't know that it's govt's responsibility to get rid all all kinds of paramiliteries and these 'unidentified attackers '.
In all press conferences and in other statements, they just pass the responsibility to 'unidentified attackers' and be quite. THey don't tell that they will finish this level of terrorism.
A failed state. |

International donors, including the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the German Development Bank, have suspended funds for tsunami reconstruction work as the Reconstruction and Development Agency (RADA) has failed to submit the audit reports in time, officials said. |

Reporter,
Well said. When they have the onus to respond against any extra-judicial killings, they tend to say they don't know about it. What reckless statements these are!!
If GoSL genuinely thinks it's responsible for the whole country, it should make efforts to stop any killing within the island. Instead they shamelessly say, they don't know. What a mess!! Acts like these clearly show that GoSL themselves don't think it's a united country anymore!! |

Foreign aid cut fear as Sri Lanka fails on human rights
May 13, 2007 (AFP) - Sri Lanka's failure to share power with minority Tamils and put an end to extra-judicial killings have raised prospects of more aid cuts to the embattled island, officials and diplomats say.
A top US envoy left Colombo on Thursday after castigating the government of President Mahinda Rajapakse for not delivering on promises to reduce violence while Britain also froze debt relief to its former colony.
Japan, Sri Lanka's largest single aid donor, was also planning to meet with international activists who are demanding the linking of aid to the island's human rights record, a diplomat, who declined to be named, said |

Robins,
Can someone clear this for me? Are the Mahawamse preachers trying to say Sinhalese are the chosen one for protecting Budhism in the world?
Many people, both who denounce and those who praise, have not properly read Mahavamsa. They pick up bits and pieces of biased intrepretaions by interested parties.
It is composed from various religious records by a Buddhist monk and can be considered as the history of Buddhsim in Sri Lanka, and a Chronicle of dynasties of the Anuradhapura Kingdom. Since it is written by a Buddhist monk, understandably it is biased toward Buddhism and does try to portray Sri lanka as the chosen land to protect Buddhism. It hardly even identify Sinhala Buddhiism.
It has a lot of valubale information about Sri Lanka particularly 'Buddhism in the Anuradhapura Kingdom',and of course includes a lot of legends. Learned consider it to have been written in the Indian 'Kavya' style.

Hard core Sinhala-Buddhists will prefer suicide than power devolution. Racism based on their supremacy is ingrained and no rational persuation will yield any fruition. |

One mono ethnic army for two ethnics ?
They, Sinhalas, condemn that Eelam will bring a mono-ethnic country, but, they, Sinhalas, don't consider the fact that their army is already mono-ethnic !! What a joke !
This corrupted war only benefits the war lords and the bourgeoisie, be it the top Sri lankan military commanders, and Sri lankan govt or LTTE leadership.
We, the poor people, the nation workforce, are the most affected, we are stupid to continue to vote boggus Sinhala President and parties. We must next time vote for the peaceful Sinhala-Tamil SEP (Social Equality Party) party.
