How can LTTE be a threat when SL extremuists claim it can be contained and defeated? Are you claimining Sri Lanka is more powerful thatn India?
It was India's propaganda at the time of IPKF that caused their undoing. I was in India at that time. People were told that LTTE was finished. It was not the case with Punjab issue as it was treated as a major issue. Tamil expulsion from SL was a non-issue to India. But LTTE act was the first slap in their face.
Now they are dancing to the tune of their own propaganda. |

Pulli,
US dollar will be very soon at Rupees 150.00
Not bad machang, ok. yes, I agree with you on the depreciation of the rupee. It seems now the dollar is at 110 right?
The pound is about 215 guess. The inflation is rocketting and there are no answers. the economy is in a mess.
My only worry is that there are genuine people who know all these facts machang. Its all about how to get the GOSL to let it know. For me unless the discussions start soon, the country will just go down to further mire.
There is no win-win situation to either side. Its all about how you limit the damage. For that talks have to be started.
Btw, get your card and send it machang, amma must be waiting for your card. Ammas don't care about war, they only care about sons and daughters who are stupidly fighting an unwinnable war - period.

New York based rights watchdog Human Rights Watch HRW say UN human rights monitors should be sent to Sri Lanka to protect civilians caught in continued fighting between troops and Tamil Tiger rebels.
In the statement, HRW's Asia Director Brad Adams said Sri Lankan authorities have failed to protect civilians from the war. People are looking to the U.N. and international mechanisms for protection and
support.
'The presence of international monitors 'would lessen the abuses, protect civilians, and help create an atmosphere in which dialogue and political talks prevail,' Adams said.
A very good approach.
A DAILY NEED for SRi LANKA.
This should happen as soon as possible. Edited By - Reporter - 12 May 2007 15:15:01 GMT |

Machang,
JRJ I fully agree with your views stated.......this issue will not come to an end unless few extreem guys like JVP, JHU etc are made to R.I.P.....then the Educated Sinhala guys will address the issue in way which is acceptable to Sinhaleese and tamils......these JVP. JHU guys (only pasting posters on walls and having jayagosha meetings day and night) are bankrupt in politics nothing on plate to serve the sinhala man if not for LTTE issue.....no constructive issues are addressed by these guys to lankan society .....and living a posh life with lankan tax payers money Edited By - PULI0007 - 12 May 2007 15:14:52 GMT |

SatanKabacha,
Now they are dancing to the tune of their own propaganda.
India lost direction when Indra Gandhi was killed. She taught lessons to her trouble makers such as Pakistan and Sri Lanka. She told Pakistan not to bomb East Pakistan and Sri Lanka not to offer facilitation to Pakistan to bomb its own territory, EP. They never listened. She chopped off Pakistan arm by helping EP and prevented a human catastrophy in E.Pakistan.
She also went on to advise SL to sort out its etnic problem but the successive SL govts wanted to contain the meaceful protests by urging thugs to riot and army to persecute the minorities.
So she trained Tamil militants and SL went on kneels to help wipe out the insurgency in the Soutyh and Tamil rebellion in the NE. he helped to put down the former but told SL to sirt out the genuine grievances of the minorities.
But her successor Rajiv Gandhi was fooled by cunning JR-J into bringing so-called IPKF which went on ill treating those it came to protect. Rajiv was killed by the sister of a girl victim who was raped and killed by IPKF. India must know that Sinhalas are not going to address the ethnic problem and take appropriate actions to bring rationality to the SL ruling elitists. Time will illustrate to them that SL problem will be dragged on by the state and India may realise that something tangible has to be done. |

Machang Pulli,
Lankan politics have always been a muddle one way or another. Its a pity that the situation doesn't help the ordinary people who are suffering from sky rocketing inflation due to political stupidity.
It takes a bold man to reverse what we are having for example, a reasonable power devolution that the tamils can be satisfied must be implemented so that both Sinhalese and Tamils live in peace and harmony (separation is not a choice). But 'Reasonable' depends on what policitians gain from the outset. That is where the problem lies. In my view I always thought president JRJ did have a good start on PCs, sadly its not implemented as expected.
Machang, have to go now, we'll discuss later on. btw, I will be going to have some toddy this evening. Pol raa machang ;) got to enjoy life, because life is too short, no point fighting. Api okkoma rajawaru, okkoma wesiyo thun sinhalayama nedeyo :)) Jayawewa!
catch you later on.
