The government has sought to play down the domestic threat of a series of rebel air raids that culminated in an air strike on oil installations near the capital a week ago.
'There is an air threat which has a range of 200-300 nautical miles, and this range brings within it not only cities within Sri Lanka, shipping in the Indian Ocean, but also the nuclear installations of India,' Sri Lankan Foreign Secretary Dr. Palitha Kohona told a media briefing.

LTTE,s air wing is a great threat to whole world.USA is very much concerned incase of air attack on indian nuclear stations as it could cause a big disaster. On the other hand other terrorists groups can also copy this tactic. Therefore USA has decided to destroy VP & LTTE air wing. This is the main reason for this vist.USA will donate 2 fighter jets to SLAF with their pilots & equiped with bunker buster bombs to destroy ltte air strip & planes.
Now USA,INDIA & SL have got commen enemy.That is VP & his terrorist air wing. Edited By - punchimahinda - 7 May 2007 18:37:06 G |

| BigBang, Colombo is a big city. Any commercial, Military and VVIP targets are known to everyone. Unlike, Kilinochchi, Bombing any of these targets in Colombo can have devastating affect, regardless of the outcome. With all the intelligence US has been bombing Afghan mountains many times over......still not much affect on Al-qeuda or Taliban. But one hit from Al-Qaeda to New York....change the world. That's the nature of terrorism. But one has to understand SLAF is the most lethal force to LTTE right now. As long as those Kifer C7 and Mig27's are flying over Vanni, any LTTE offensives can take a turn. |

SLAF have done a great job..
Next target, may be a toilet in Vanni..
You don't need a Mig to target the toilets in Vanni area..
When the 'Tin can stuff' start flying around, Mahinda 'Aya' will cry for the Indian nuclear facilities from Bunker..
May be Rumbuttan and Sarath polanga were looking for some more 'lies bundle' for the reporters..

A fuel storage in the middle of the forest, with no visible roads leading to it? Good target SLAF.
Yes living up to your name, no roads? LOL:

| I doubt it was a fuel dump of a bus company. Why should a fuel storage facility belonging to private busses be located 8km from the town center, in the midst of a forest? Why not in the town, where all the busses are? This would be more economical rather than going 16kms to fill up? |

Army?s special forces chief to quit
Top Army officer, Colonel Prasanna Silva, the Brigade Commander of the special force which carried out the recent successful operations in the east including the one in Vakarai, has been asked to retire prematurely for unknown reasons, Daily Mirror learns.
Informed sources revealed Colonel Silva had submitted his resignation recently to Army Commander Sarath Fonseka, who had reportedly accepted it. With the new development, Colonel Silva will retire in December this year.
Until the retirement, it is learnt, Colonel Silva has been given a logistic appointment at the Kosgama Army Camp,
Meanwhile, Army Commander Fonseka has appointed Jaffna?s 553 Brigade Commander Nirmal Dharmaratne as the Commander of the Army?s elite special forces with immediate effect. Colonel Silva?s achievements, it is learnt, were personally appreciated by the President at a meeting held soon after the successful operations in the East.
Anyone know what the reason? A sad political move. |
