Well now we all know what the government's 'solution' was to the airlines, shut the airport down at night... LOL

What will that solve? It only increases the fear factor and reduces tourism.

What will go up is
Unemployment,
Cost of living.
Number of empty hotels.
Cancelled reservations.
Frusteration,
Corruption,
Crime
Violance,
Robberies,
Extortions,
Prostitution,
AIDS,
Inflation,
Investors taking off ( Without planes)
The list goes on and on.

Just imagine, The SLRs is not worth the coin it is made of.
I do not know about the Bank notes.......

I always thought it was just a figure of speach when they say 'it is not worth the paper it is printed on'

Now I am seeing it in SL.
Nobody wants to exchange the SLRs for USD $.

Just do not make the SLRs at par with toilet paper.

Yes, Kandappa.

All communities have a contribution to make. But we have chosen to fight instead.

Hope this peace initiative is not another smoke screen to rearm and re-group.

Upgrading an embassy is not by the building only. The Human Rights situation at home should be improved. Even if there is no fax machine at least there will be a computer with email/fax modem!.

The country is going down the drain and all these people are worried about is something about FAX machines?

I am not sure if the people in pwoer in this country have their heads scerwed on right...........

We cannot complain. We put these jokers where they are.

Will we ever change?

How long will such things go on?

I always believe that it is not the equipment that makes an embassy it is the people in it who do.
Unless all of em are the same ( Stupid, Southern , Sinhalese) who are at most embassies.

Impossible to see a Tamil at most embassies. Why?
Are the Tamils so dumb? Or is it because the GoSL is a racist Gov?

These kind of things must change.............

There are lots of un qulified staffs working at these embassies, Canada hig com is useless, thoses guys who are working will talk about how to get canadain PR, also if you are a tamil they delay things.
French hig com, been in this work for a long time, main aim to stop the funding.
UK also the same, Australia, one of satff had once cried when my friend asked 'how did you get this job without knowing any work,?bcz the person was NIL.
All gov workers with some connections they get this job as staff. First the gov have to change them

Intelligence officer Nilam missing

By Sunil Jayasiri

A top intelligence officer of the Sri Lanka Army, Captain S.H. Nilam, who was the defence attaché at the Sri Lanka Embassy in Jakarta, has gone missing since last month. Another top official at the Jakarta embassy has reportedly received death threats from the LTTE.

State intelligence informed the government that Captain Nilam, his wife and three children had gone missing since April 23, a highly placed government official said.

He said that the acting ambassador in Jakarta, a Tamil, had reportedly received death threats from the Tamil Tigers recently.

The latest development follows the recall of Major General Janaka Perera, who was Sri Lanka?s ambassador to Indonesia, and the appointment of the former Army Chief of Staff, Major General Nanda Mallawarachchi- who has not yet assumed duties-as the new ambassador.

Major General Perera was asked to return to the country during the last week of April, for unknown reasons -- although his term had been expected to end next September.

It is learnt that, with the support of the Indonesian State Intelligence Agency -Badan Intelijen Negara (BIN), Captain Nilam had tipped off the Sri Lanka Government regarding several Sri Lanka bound LTTE arms shipments, and thus curtailed the flow of LTTE weapons to the country during his tenure.

Captain Nilam was in charge of the ?Millennium City? safe house when it was raided during the UNP regime. He was sent to Thailand in order to avoid LTTE attempts on his life. Later he was made the Defence Attaché in Indonesia.
