All Sri Lankan embassies to be upgraded

All Sri Lankan embassies are to be given a face lift to project a better image of the country.
Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama said that a presentable embassy coupled with hard work can achieve the goals set for the country. `As a first step a new chancery building will be constructed in Riyadh, for which the Saudi Arabian government has already allocated land.`
With the focus on serving the people, all vacancies at the Riyadh embassy will also be filled shortly, he said.
Sri Lankan embassies in various parts of the world have frequently complained that they lack even basic facilities such as fax machines.
This complaint was repeated after President Mahinda Rajapakse was critical of some Sri Lankan diplomats serving abroad, who he said were not performing their duties satisfactorily.
Referring to the LTTE, Bogollagama said that Sri Lanka was in a position to canvass the international community against its fund raising activities through arms smuggling, money laundering, narcotics trade and other illegal activities.
`Countries such as the US and France have arrested LTTE members and fronts engaged in illegal activities and hauled them before their courts. We want to eliminate terrorism so that all communities can live in peace and harmony.`

It would be better if they are asked to work for a change.
Wasting money and doing nothing. Imagine what is happening in UK Parliament while our ambassador is sleeping over there.

All embassy people are ministers people.Don't know how the country and an embassy!Embassies are okay just upgrade

Now UK and US have said no more AID resulting no more arms purchase to make millions of dollars commission by rajapaksha family members (mahinda, goatapaya & basil along with sarathponseka)buying scrap metal MIGs and KFIRs.
Last Wednesday in British parliment all party committee members of parilment have insisted British Goverment to lift the British ban on LTTE and call the top LTTE leaders to UK and ask them to address the MPs in British Parliment
So that they have started a new venture to make money that is upgrade the lankan embassies so that some more anti Tamil propaganda could be done by GOSL saying LTTE is collecting money..... which will any way have zero effect on LTTE funds collection around the world......jayawewa LTTE
Also in the name of lankan embassies upgrade Mahinda and Bogollagama (will also upgrade their respective bank account balances - the real hidden agenda of this embassies upgrade) can send some more family members to these embassies at the cost of Lankan tax payers and make some extra money for themselves and their family members... also few nice looking sinhala women have to share the bed with bogollagama and other ministers to get jobs in these upgraded embassies.... The next government which comes to power in Sri Lanka will say that all the embassies are having excess staff and that government foreign minister will issue a statement to Colombo media that he is taking urgent steps to curtail Lankan embassy staff count (as if he has invented some thing new) which is costing the lankan tax payers...this kind of Drama continues sine 1949....and the lankans are watching this drama like fools.......jayawewa mahinda chintanayata
already the existing lankan embassy staff around the world are just doing nothing (white elephants for lankan economy) except in Europe just stand on roads with lankan flags once a year as anti LTTE propaganda which even the public in those countries consider a joke ! Whether these embassies are upgraded or not LTTE supporters around the world will pump money to Pirabaharan and even after him who ever the LTTE leader....GOSL should understand this reality and address the main cause of the problem in the country instead of upgrading embassies for anti LTTE propaganda purpose at the cost of lankan tax payers.......sin aney

There are better ways to project a better image of the country. How about
a) improve the human rights situations
b) stop abductions, killings, kidnap for ransom by security forces
c) Improve the drainage system of Colombo
d) Improve the roads and build highways
e) Improve the infrastructure of Colombo and surrounding
I guess Bogollagama figured out this is a easier way to take a cut off the spending money. When will this country learn? |

| Sri Lankan embassies are upgraded and updated to hide the horrors inflicted on the innocent civilians such as kidnapping, killng, driving them from their homes and denying them basic necessities. The govt spends huge sums of money to buy off journalists and officials nationally and internationally and paint a rosi and sunny picture of the president human rights violations. But the lid is slowly getting lifted. |

GOSL has to remove all the people deposited in the embassies, and appoint new staff, they don't do anything effective.
I think they should recruit young energetic people and replace the excising staff.
That's the way to upgrade the embassies,....Old staff is not effective. |
