Lokka,
You point is good material for a discussion of what is acceptable gear in cricket?
Adam Gilchrist had come out with information that he used an unorthodox gear to improve his grip which enhanced his performances. In every major sports including cricket there are clearly defined standards that every player has to oblige with. Two decades ago Pakistani player Intiqabe Allam was penalized for using Vaseline applied to his hair to shine one side of the ball. Tampering the ball with finger nails are prohibited too. I do not see many fast bowlers rubbing the ball on their pants any more. Can some body tell if it is also banned. If the bowlers have so many restrictions how come the batsmen can use unorthodox methods to have a better grip?
Australia deserved the world cup as they were the only unbeaten team and had much more superior performances than any other team. Sri Lanka loosing to Australia is no disgrace. However when Adam Gilchrist scored close to one and a half a century when the other two players did not even reach a half a century and claimed a tactical usage of an unorthodox gear it should open the eyes of those who love cricket to be played by the rules.
I hope, members of the forum will put their thoughts in to perspective 'for the betterment of cricket' we all enjoy beyond the ethnic division clearly exhibited in this forum. Edited By - magha - 1 May 2007 03:39:30 GMT |

I do not think it will be illegal but surely will be agianst the sprit of the game!!
Once i suppose Ponting created an issue by having stickers on the bat!!(it was taken up and he was not allowed to do it again)
The commentators did notice when Gilchrist showed his gloves when he reached his 100!!
It will be interesting someone looks into it..it does not have to SL cos they will all say sour grapes!! Edited By - Berty - 1 May 2007 03:42:25 GMT |

If the guy used the squash ball or whatever during the match to help him grip better, then that's illegal.
But if he just used it to practice his grip, then it's 100% legal.
So what's the problem here ;) |

There is no use of talking on final but true victory of Australia well known nation for cricket. Now sri lankan authorities want to cover up the recent airraid of Tigers and divert the people attention .
what a joke!.
Cricket Match is over. But the panic of air raids of tigers is not yet over and can not be erased.
All foreign flights are being diverted directly to the other destination and authorities in India has started to enlarge the present Airport in Madras to receive all diverted foreign flights.
so what is this talk on this cricket match?
There is nobody here to talk about air raids on Colombo by Tigers and their cool return to their airbase.
Cricket match won't bring any economic aid to the nation it is only a rubbish. |

Let us stop talking this cricket match.sport is sport that's all.
Let us talk on peace and immediate federal dministration for Tamils to save the one and only international airport before it is closed down permanently.
The country is burning now and it is not the time to have rubbish talks on cricket.
Let us demand Mr.Mahinda to take a night train now to Killinochi with the Amassadors of India and United States
( for his security ) to meet Mr.Prabhakaran and other Tamil leaders to stop this war by implementing federal system immediately.
we can not afford to have very expensive life.
people are suffering.
If this airport is closed down or destroyed completly by Tigers cricket players can not participate in any international match. |
