Freelancer,
Those bats convert simple catches to mid-on to sixers :)
Yeah man! During one series I remember Brett Lee (of all people) smashed a six over THIRD MAN with one of those bats!
Similar materials are used to make golf clubs, Damn expensive, but if you can you them, you can hit extra 30-40 meters away.
I went with a Lankan buddy of mine to the Kingsport Centre just outside Sydney. It's where the Aussie cricketers buy their gear. Machan, the two of us wanted to move into the place! It had the works: cricket, baseball, football, the lot. They even have a body-hugging sports garment which they say regulates your body temperature so you can perform at your best all day long. It was endorsed by Brett Lee. Can't remember how much it cost. Edited By - Imperator - 30 Apr 2007 23:52:40 GMT |

The carbon bats cost about $A 120 or so.
Big mistake on my part. $A 120 was for a standard Gray Nicolls. The carbon Kookaburra is about $550! |

cmon this is like a supercoiled spring on your hand. what's differnce between this and using steriods to pump up your muscles?
Not to degrade Aus performance. But actually I wondered why Jayasooriya's (one of the strong power hitter in ODI cricket) all attempts to hit sixes failed while Gilly's all hits went far away from the rope though ground was a big one. Experts need to quantitatively determine the contribution of squash ball for energy boost. |
