Lets not be mean and try to find excuses. Gillie played a scintillating innings - period.
We were just outclassed by sheer power hitting by Gillie which we didn't have answers for. I remember when guys like Richards and Botham start whacking all over the park, its just too excruciating, but that is how it is.
Its a cruel game if you let the perssure in. We were no match for that Gillie's innings, he was just too fab, Congratulations to him, he made the Aussie cup a certainty on the day.

Everyone who thought this was a sour-grape thing trying to justify defeat:
It's not. Don't you think that it's strange that Gilchrist himself admitted that the ball helped him in his grip? There is no doubt about him having the aid, it's fact.
The only question is its authenticity. Are such devices allowed? Simple question. |

Ive seen umpires get riled up over players with extra padding? there was always a few eyebrows raised when jayasuriya was bowling with padding on his fingers.
squash balls have the property that it bounces more at higher temperatures. Players tend to warm up balls by bouncing them on the ground prior to play. As a rally progresses, play is complicated as the ball usually becomes hotter and speeds up. so guess the elasticity of a squash ball under a crickter's glove.
cmon this is like a supercoiled spring on your hand. what's differnce between this and using steriods to pump up your muscles?
cricket shud be an equal contest between bat and bowl. very dissappointing from gilly. i've written to the icc and the mcc. i suggest y'all do as well. |

Did any one lately hear from DrAkai?
His last post is there 23 Nov 2006 20:39:22 GMT, I had one or two very short conversation(s) with him but never understood why the name 'Dr. Akai'
'Akai' is in Japanese 'red' and there is a brand name 'AKAI' too, also from Japan.

NMaya,
Interesting points from you on squash balls.
I usually have high regard to Gillie as he's one of the rarest batsmen who when feels he's out just trudges to the pavillion without waiting to see the umpire's finger goes up.
Now for something like that to bring the game to disrepute from a player like Gillie is almost unthinkable. That was my point why we were outclassed by Gillie.
