Gilly boy was out of form the entire tournament...
There's no argument that Australia was the better team that day... luck also favored them
But if Gilly was such a great batsman...why the heck did he have to use a squash ball underneath the glove???
Obviously the man gained an unfair advantage over the competition... Squash balls are not in the equipment list of cricket...
If one of our guys did it all hell would've come loose... Just because it's an aussie...they just laugh it off :)
Cricket is supposed to be a gentleman's game...you should be able to 'clear' the laws of the game and play it with the proper spirit.
One f00l here is talking about murali...something the aussies can't stomach seeing in world cricket even after ICC clearing him with his action... Talk about real losers who can't give proper credit for proper performance....
i remember once an umpire asked murali to remove the band-aid he had on one of his fingers after a cut... He had to remove it eventhough it was painful for him to bowl with an open wound. That was done since the umpire felt the band-aid was helping murali to have a better grip on the ball... And here are the all knowing all mighty aussies improving their grips and playing shots they themselves have never played before with squash ball aid...
i think it's downright unfair...
We don't give too hoots about losing the match....it's part of the game... Squash balls are not

Good for Gilly if had done it :)
But doing a few goods and then doing a bad doesn't make it right now does it.
And please explain how you came to the conclusion that if one of our guys did this...nobody would know about it comment :)

Well it would not have improved his batting and secondly he would not have made a big thing of it ..Gilly certainly did not have cheating on his mind when he tried the squash ball to aid his left hand grip on the bat as evidenced by his pointing to the glove when he made his century..

Itzrob...
if it didn't improve his batting why did he use it in the first place? Why only on the finals?
End of the day, he used something that's not approved by the governing body to give him an unfair advantage to improve his grip or whatever...
How much it helped is another argument. Anyone with a bit of common sense knows that a squash ball stores energy when it's compressed and releases it... that's how the thing bounce off when they use it to play SQUASH
If i had access to all these sports equipment i'll try it myself just to see how it works :)
There's no argument over the man's talent but this is something he shouldn't have done. That's my view.
You're welcome have your own if it suits you :)
cheers
i'm off to a cocktail party :) enough of this useless debate. In my opinion...what's wrong is wrong no matter who does it...
have a good day :)
